Fabulous shots, well done to all. I hope this excellent venture has been well patronised.

It makes you realise that the scenery is just stunning. You then put a smart train in the middle of it and it becomes even better.

Wonderful photographs. So good to see a railway that isn't surrounded by lineside vegetation. Here in the south west the railways run through avenues of trees. Many classic locations have disappeared. <BJ>

Cheers Henry, diesel is by no means my first choice, but the opportunity to capture images that 'aren't possible' or just not the same in the typical steam path and in weather that is most bearable, provides a acceptable result. Of course on Saturday both pictures of the Scot were hampered with harsh back lit sun and then thickening haze, be we salvaged something out of the day with the ' The Stay-cation Express'

Thanks - vegetation is an increasing battle in parts but thankfully not everywhere.

Don't know if it's old news or not but the motive power today on these trains is 20107 and 47712.

On a scorching 11 August 2020, a couple of shots showing 47712 leading a nortbound service over Lunds viaduct and 47593 about to plunge into the cooling confines of Birkett tunnel leading a southbound service
47712 was producing significantly more clag than British India Line, which passed by not long afterwards

It'll be on the southern end of the stock on Saturday, replacing the 37.

So looks like the last day is going to have Whistler haulage one way. Wonder when a class 40 was last on the S & C.

August 2018. D213. Before then, probably quite a few years would be my guess.

A couple of scanned colour negatives of 40's on the S&C Service trains showing steam heated 40012 ready to depart Carlisle in September 1983 and D200 heading north at Armathwaite in July 1987 -apologies for the poor quality
