Light and bright? From recollection all you had to do was wave an empty shovel at the firehole door and she steamed...!

She still does so you shouldn't need your jar of spare steam Rumpole! Oh but we did find she needed a bit of coal on the shovel on Washford and Crowcombe banks though........

LOL mate. Needs to be ready for FRIDAY - we have a press day plus a private wedding charter in the afternoon.

Friday - 5786 will work the 1st and 3rd passenger trips, 6695 the 2nd and 4th and 3803 is on the charter. I'll be enjoying a reswt from all the shunting and prep work and enjoying life on Taffy the Tank Engine \:D/ .

Saturday should be 3803 on service trains, plus 5526 on additional auto trains throughout the day....

Then on Sunday the gala starts proper.

Papermill Bridge is the first bridge (apart from the station footbridge) that the train goes under when leaving Buckfastleigh. It has the section signal (the one with the white bord on the back) in front of it. So basically it's not very far at all from Buckfastleigh.

Do the SDR do lineside passes?
If so, how does one get one's grubby little mit's on one? I can't see anything on the websites.

    Another question...

The better half was wondering if the combined tickets for the rare breeds or the butterfly house will still be available next week?

6695 made her debut runs today, two round trips working the 12.15 and 15.45 departures from Buckfastleigh. Have to say what a magnificent loco - a most enjoyable day on her!

5786 also made her first runs in British Railways black livery.

Collett coach W6515W was shunted out of the C&W works in newly applied Crimson & Cream and has joined W1645 to make a splendid two coach branch rake.

3803 was also in steam working a private wedding charter.

Tommorrow sees 5526 work the auto train (4 trips starting from 10.00) and 3803 the normal service (four trips starting at 10.45.

The shed at Buckfastleigh looks very good now all the stock has been shunted and there are loco's stabled at the front of all three roads. The shed are also open to the public this weekend with various locomotives on show.

Are single round-trip tickets available, as opposed to the fifteen quid rover?

Can only pop by for an hour or so unfortunately.... 8-[
