I thought offering membership for the usual annual price but valid until Dec 2014 was good, especially as it was only a fiver more than a day rover. Well, it would be rude not to join for that price! The list of discounts available with it too was substantial. I'll have to make more visits next year, despite the 600 mile round trip.

Lydham is certainly my fave loco. It was being lifted up onto her footplate at Paignton as a small boy in the 1970s which kicked off my interest in steam and railways - so I have a soft spot for her for sure. Hopefully she won't be out of traffic for long, and hope she stays in BR black - suits her so well!

Of course, makes sense, thanks for the info. No complaints about this gala at all, still no shortage of variety, was just curious about the change - and relieved that the idea of the Staverton layovers will be back for other events when practical as it makes Staverton an even more enjoyable place to be.

I had an enjoyable day at the Gala on Sunday. Thanks to all those involved. A small selection of photos can be found at http://paulsimpson.zenfolio.com/p731019702.

A selection of photos from the Don Bishop Photo Charter on Tuesday with 7827 and 3 Blood and Custard coaches can be found at http://paulsimpson.zenfolio.com/p674550725. Thanks to Don Bishop and all those involved at the South Devon Railway.

Photos to follow for the Wednesday Charter 7827 with Freight when we had more sun.
