Any chance that the old Eridge box could be moved and utilised here? Its current position is, I believe, on the NR side at Eridge, so could not be used by the Spa Valley. It would be a shame to let it rot away after surviving for so long.

Last Heard, I *think* NR said we aren't allowed to use it, at least not in it's current position.

Guys. At the moment, I don't think the signal box comes into the Spa's Eridge plan as the main impetus is in getting the railway back into Eridge! The initial signalling at Eridge will be operated by a lever frame.

What the future holds for the box, who knows.

We were talking about the requirement for a box at Groombridge loop.

The signal box at Groombridge will be a complete new build. The reason why Eridge has not been considered is because it is not owned by us (Network Rail) and if work was to be carried out on the box, it would require a possession on the adjacent running line.

Initially Eridge will have a basic signalling installation to control trains approaching the station. There is also likely to be some shunt signals involved too but I am not sure exactly what.

LOL now thats unlikely! First they need money, and to get the loop done at Groombridge, and i dare say work out how to do the work next to the mainline - outside contractors will be probably be needed for the majority as its next to NR. All this will require a LOT of planning to make sure everything is done correctly. Several years of work even if they had all the money now id've thought.

It wont be March 08, but could still be sometime next season. A lot depends on how soon the NR paperwork can be signed, and how quickly the remaining finance/donations come in - the appeal is still open, and businesses are being approached for sponsorship.

Bit confused about the Bluebell getting 418,000 visitors - they must be using a strange figure because i was under the impression the NYMR was the most popular heritage railway with 300,000....

What is on the website is the latest news at this moment of time, as I only updated the website 24 hours ago. There is little more to report. All the projects are progressing well but we can always do with more help. There will be a quiet period now as we catch up with some much needed maintenance to the running line and engines before the busy Santa period. Expect lots of progress in the new year.

I will try and keep you all informed on progress but a news page will appear soon to monitor progress.

We can always do with more help if you want to get involved guys!
