For the record, back in February I actually opposed this temporary banning, despite our differences and in response I decided on a 2 week leave so as not to rock the boat in his absence. I actually like the fella, but you can't force that to be mutual.

This time round, the event unfolded whilst I was temporarily away, but given the nature and the unanimous vote at that point Everyone voted in favour, no questions asked as soon as I saw what was occurring I agreed too. The casting vote as always lies with Admin, not me, Ralph or any other moderator.

There was no "me or Ralph" in it.. The nature of events, not just that said user posts, but external forum interests, everyone decided enough was enough. It was unanimous.

    Theres no glory in it.

On a side note an interesting note, a uninformed email has been sent (off forum) to several of the moderator staff, not myself.
The nature of that email was somewhat threatening and directly relates to this event. We already know the originator, despite there hiding behind "Waverley" connotations, they be somewhat more "prestonian" origins.
We know it was not one of the banned users.

As mentioned before The Moderators work as a team, and threats to one, even made to personal family email addresses offline of the forum is appaulingly disgusting and has been shared with the team.

It is not a situation to be tolerated, and I fully support any action those affected moderators wish to take. Admin already has and am sure will comment here.

I am sure the banned user, if reading this via third party will also distance themselves from this action and wouldn't want any part in it. But it shows a low to which some people, to whom it has nothing to do with and armed with false facts..Will go.
Forum rules prevents me saying his name, and if revealed and the email were to be published it would damage his railway industry reputation...

Does this issue need to keep reappearing ?, I thought Glyn made the reasons for the bannings quite clear in another thread (ie legal threats from elsewhere), between that, a possible lawsuit and almost certain loss of the forum as a result, yes it may of been harsh, but what choice was there ?.

there are unfortunatly a few who in the words of Vic and Bob , "wouldn't let it lie" . The email ADB alludes to really does have to be seen to be believed . Sadly the user concerned may not be as smart as they think they are as we are reasonably confident we have identified them .

Such behaviour potentially comes from somewhat quite senior , yet whose behaviour really does border on the truly childish . I've had people refer to his forum as Kiddie steam . If only they knew what our "kids" are really like

I'll leave the thread open for now but will close this evening unless there is a really compelling argument or overwhelming majority in favour of it staying open

I agree with Victor. Close it. The facts are there for all to read and there appears to be nothing else to add.

I agree. All that needs to be said in public has already been aired, I think, and as this is an open forum, it's easily read by anyone. Given the seriousness of what's happened, best to draw a very thick line under it and move on, certainly as far as we ordinary forum members are concerned. I suspect that it may not be over for the admin team, but that's their business now.
