    Well, that certainly was the plan, but the diagramming didn't fit in too well and both colours worked all trains turn and turn about. When there are only 38 engines to start with, the Traffic people couldn't afford to be that picky! In 1957 the inaugural 'Caledonian' ran from Euston to Glasgow behind 6244 in red; the Up train left Glasgow behind 6242 in green.
