I think the West Somerset trip was always intended to be diesel hauled and that SD have actually planned a break in the steam programme in August in anticipation of dry weather conditions and subsequent bans/restrictions on steam operations. I can't really see the logic in this - how on earth can you predict when planning your tour programme at the beginning of the year when there is going to be a hot and dry spell? The hot weather has come a couple of weeks too early for them! Still at least they won't suffer from the next fire brigade strikes.

Even that wont tempt me back to Diesel Nightmares (sorry Steam Dreams). Only the return of a certain GB might. He who gave us those fantastic runs with 35028

Still costing the same as a "proper" steam trip though. ie, the steam premium.
You could drive or catch a service train to Taunton for less.

I guess SD just haven't been able to find a replacement loco with the appeal of Tornado ;)

But I suspect the "steam premium" on this trip is paying WSR track access charges and hire of one of their locos.

Haven't had this arrive yet. Still have to use a discount we have from a diesel hauled Steam trip last year. I bet I won't be able to use the discount on the trips in the leaflet........
It seems their trips aren't selling well if they are taking £25 off them.

Also forgot to mention the picture for the WSR trip makes me laugh. Somerset looks a lot like Scotland in that picture!

From the latest Steam Dreams Brochure which covers day trips up to 9/7/15 Re: - British India Line This locomotive is to appear regularly on the Cathedrals Express once its rebuilding is complete. So looks like it is planned to be based at Southall.

60007 is listed in the brochure on a number of trips prior to the Edinburgh trip : -

Note : not all trips listed on website dates page yet. See online brochure.

    Alternative interpretation:
regularly is not the same as frequently plus the Cath ex operates to north of England destinations too, using the Carnforth pool.
It's a wait and see because northern summers have seen class 8 droughts.

Had a look through the online brochure they sent by e-mail. Good news about 35018 but they seem to be a bit confused about which loco she is as they have used a picture of 35022 with the text for 35018 . 60007 trips look interesting and so do the Rule Britannia ones but I bet the prices will be interesting too!
Details for 2015 trips are a bit sketchy so far & I would be interested to see how much diesel haulage is planned.

diesel haulage is listed from the return leg of cross london trips from London to the Starting point. There are a few where text might have been lost in formating such as the Swange trip. While some you need the blurb for some like the Chester trip while is steam one way but that is not a suprise due to the route taken.
