Better not try and send one down the ex LSWR route beyond Salisbury then. Even Tornado was clobbered for the Kingswood Bridge at Hardington on the Devon Belle!

Hopefully not too much thread drift, ref the Jubilee - south of Saltley I recollect there were some challenging gauge issues linked to upper profile of rolling stock - around Wilmcote when I worked in Railfreight business getting certain freight traffics (tanks on warflats and war wells) through a road over rail bridge - recollecting the line is on a cant too. So it's not just about cylinders with gauge clearance!

What a shame that my paternity leave runs out and I'm back to work on the 21st April, I think I may have even ventured up to see Galatea. Fingers crossed that this all comes to fruition so I can enjoy a fair few videos!

Of course. I tested 5690 over the North Warks after wheelset attention. Think it was 2005. Clive Hanley has some good photos of it.

The trip on the 28/5 is now going to Salisbury due to engineering works at Bristol.

Was there a problem with the returning Bristol to West Brompton (diesel) charter yesterday evening?

The train passed Hawkeridge Jct at 17:53 but only managed to pass Westbury (1/2 mile) at 18:16.
Dilton Marsh, just a further mile or so further on, was passed at 18:32. <BJ>

    27 52 Hawkeridge Jn pass 17:53
    28 22 Westbury [WSB] pass 18:16½
    29 49 Dilton Marsh [DMH] pass 18:31¾

No. Just a rumour because of engineering works in and around Bristol meaning Bristol to Bishops Lydeard was capped. The SD website states there will be an alternative to the B to BL trip but since I am not booked on it, I do not know where it is going.

Haven't booked on this as they don't know if it even fits down here yet. Read they will find out Tuesday. Apparently the Jubilee Class is a bit of a tight fit under bridges.
If a black five is coming South too as mentioned on the LE moves thread might this be doing it instead?

That is the standard DB Cargo Pullman path which apppears every day. I don't think there is any indication yet that this will be used by the WCRC Steam Dreams train on 21 April. I presume that it will have to be released by DB Cargo.

The Black Five is more likely to be for GB IX if Tangmere is not available.

Doh! Thanks Paul. I had forgotten about the GB tour.
A black five and Scot combination will be pretty impressive.

I have been informed by SD on Twitter that 45699 has passed the gauging check for her work in the South.

I wonder what the planned loads are ? Should be OK with 10 unassisted. The evening trip on the 21/4 will probably have a diesel on the back.
As previously stated the trips to Stratford Upon Avon are usually unassisted ( 61306 with load 10 last year and 34046 with load 11 the year before)

She had 10 + the support coach yesterday. I wonder if she would be allowed this on the stop start nature of the challenging Surrey Hills route?

The steepest section is 1 in 91 according to my gradient profile book so should be ok. I have been up Shap Northbound twice behind Galatea with loads of 10 and 11 and that is 1 in 75.

I had thought that Clapham Junction westwards was 1 in 80. I may well be wrong - if I am, what is the correct figure, please?

Some times now showing. It seems according to Steam Dreams site, the 21/4/2016 Surrey Hills arrives London Victoria at 9.42, departs 10.12 platform 2
Arrives back at London Victoria 14.05 and departs from there at 14.27.
So in effect running 2 hours earlier than the Pullman Surrey Hills Luncheons, and rather early for a "Surrey Hills Lunchtime Tour" as it is advertised.
Afternoon Windsor - Battersea departs from Windsor 18.13, and calls at Hounslow 18.37 - 18.39 on the way.
