Hmmm, what about a motor train? When the carriages are leading, I'd suggest the leading carriage (in which the "command module captain" is standing) becomes the actual command module, and the loco itself is downgraded to "slave power unit" - which I think means better terms for the crew would be "power broker" and "slave driver" :)

I take it that your even-handidness will be readily apparent next time someone refers to a diesel loco as a 'box' then?

Don't know what's happened to this post? The wording has been changed & will not edit although the original word already shows in the editing panel.
Also for some reason the link to the picture does not work anymore.
Update, someone is playing silly b#'g%@~s here, just noticed certain words automatically change & makes the post (& my grammar) look silly.
Why don't people leave things alone? Some mod fiddling about with the forum dictionary.

It looks to me as if someone has set the forum to read steam loco if the word k3ttle (kettle) is used ..yep , proved by the word in brackets which isn't what I typed the second time...

You are correct, AB2243 was operated in preservation. (at Quainton Road) Charged from Coventry No. 1.

I have driven said loco. (cannot be called a kettle as it does not boil water itself)

    (edit)
I wrote a word which could be defined as a container for boiling water for tea, but it appears on the forum as a word meaning a contraction of a self propelle vehicle capable of hauling other vehicles.
    (2nd edit)
    now correctly showing kettle

Interesting, I see that there is now an autocorrect from 'b0x' to 'diesel' too :)

Which is why the linked post I made above looks stupid where "letter bo@" now reads "letter diesel".
The implications of this have more far reaching results than anticipated, making everyone look stupid.
Ah well, back to the kindergarten.

Well children, the moral is play nice and don't make the sysadmin's life difficult, because trust me (not that I am one here I hasten to add) we can make things more difficult for you than you can believe if sufficiently provoked.

Shame we have been diverted from an interesting topic, which was slowly producing information thanks to the hard work of a few. The data being submitted could so easily have led to an informative conclusion. The use of Mod Bots, if they are being used, on any site is to be much regretted. This policy together with the censorship it implies always ends up in frustration and tears, leaving discontented posters. The end result being in no ones interest.

In the interests of community spirit, can I urge RalphW to try and take a more relaxed view, over what is in essence an extremely trivial matter concerning three words in common use within the movement.

From posts so far the use of the three words concerned appears to upset no one, but the Administrator.

The last kettle I bought came in a box that I instantly recycled, prompting a few thoughts that for the sake of this thread I don't think I will pursue.
