It's strange how it says on the bluebells website under one of the recent meeting files that there is/was no time for a repaint....Can't find the link now but no doubt someone can! I hope it does come out to play in black though!

A while back it was mentioned that there may be an extra guest loco-any news on this?

The invitation has gone out and the first response is promising. Can't reveal the indentity just yet though.

So, the Freight cruise will be BR Black Dukedog and BR Black Small Prairie double headed. Very tasty \:D/

Yeah, I was salivating at the prospect of that loco combination when I saw 5526 at the SVR ASG! Can't wait to see that...

From my understanding of things there's no immediate rush to nail down the 12th visiting loco - will be quite nice to keep it fluid for a little longer and keep a bit of mystery going as the event draws nearer ;-) 7812 and 30926 are two possible candidates as reported in the press though.

Leave it black like it was supposed to be, although the late owner (presuming your talking about 44806)once told me that in BR days it was painted half crimson lake and half BR blue in a trail, don't know if that was ever documented anywhere but thats what I was told

I wish to point out that it was Jon Bower's photograph of the Dukedog that Craig Tiley digitally transformed into the 1950's livery of black (and no nameplates).

Wasnt 44806 painted in lined mid green at Carforth/ Lakeside after its initial preservation? Na, lets keep in Black! (And replace the 10D shedplate with the good old 8C plate...! :-k)

I really cannot imagine, Flying Fiver, why you think Martyn63601 is referring to 44806. The grapevine doesn't seem to be talking about changing Black Five Liveries to my knowledge, just Jubilees. There was me thinking you were obsessed with 42968!!

Oh for a Bullied Pacific or Brittania!

i obviously don't listen to the grapevine then, and yep 42968 is a cracking engine and would be an obvious choice for me, but we had her this year and she is off somewhere else next Feb, Chrunet Valley I think, so its out of the question for 2009. Anyway, glad its not the 5 thats being talked about, otherwise if it did go green it would end up with a number 3 on the tender being called Henry and we don't want that either :smt003

A Duchess or the Duke would be very nice but they would be out of the question as well but a Brit would do

If you really want a great gala, get Morayshire and Mayflower repainted into BR livery as well and the mystery guest loco Scots Guardsman.

How much money have you got to convince Gerald to paint Mayflower Black? Do you have the clout to persuade the Scottish Transport Museum to allow Morayshire to be repainted too?

Scot's Guardsman, a cracking Loco, magnificent in it's BR Green Livery, and a credit to David Smith. But do you really think he would contemplate putting it on a low loader to run at Llangollen?

If he does want to bring it to the Steam Party of the Decade, let me know, we will put out the begging bowl for the Transport Fees!
