Ok if you wnat a livery debate on 6880 here it is

she will be outshopped in BR lined Green with 4000 gallon tender

I do not have a problem with plain black or lined black at some time in the future

I would be keen to put her with a Churchward 3500 gallon tender and paint her plain GWR green with a GWR roundel WHY ??

because if 6880 had been built in 1939 I expect that is how she would of been turned out

Now where are the spanners gone ?

Morayshire, the Thompson buffet and the Beavertail. Now that's something I'd like to see, not to mention that long bar and the Dee valley in spring. Can't get much better than that.

I for one would love to sit back in those wonderful looking chairs and drink a nice shot of a fine scotch as the valley rolls by.

I dont think many are yet aware that the Beavertail is featuring at SSSII. It has only been mentioned within this months Steam Railway.

It was a wonderful vehicle to travel in along the GCR behind Leander at the gala a couple of weeks back, she's a wonderfully restored vehicle, a testament to those who did the work. The scenery along the Llangollen behind the Dukedog in that? Just try and stop me!

I'll be honest though, if Neil hadn't told me there (the GCR) I wouldn't have noticed it in the mag.

I think the nesw of 9017 repaint has hidden the fact that the Beavertail is coming.

However it is now confirmed and so you will be able to see the Dee Valley from a different viewpoint that has not been available from before.

Interesting visitor in the beavertail, will there be a supplement (and how much) to travel inside it?

The supplement won't be a lot, a couple of quid, but what you'll get for that is the best view of the Dee Valley available.
Seriously though the supplement charge is still being finalized but it won't be a lot and all funds go towards the Grange.

On a similar note the Thompson buffet has just been outshopped from Pentrefelin and will be stocked up with all your alcohol needs, oh and they'll also do tea and coffee as well.

    Re BEAVERTAIL

At the recent GCR Gala, there was a supplement of £5.00 per person to ride in the BEAVERTAIL. At SSSII the BEAVERTAIL supplement will be less.

Comprehensive details of the BEAVERTAIL restoration / history can be found on the Railway Vehicle Preservation Website: http://www.geocities.com/rvp_ltd@btinte ... beaver.htm

As per the leaflet the beer festival will be open from 4 on the Friday before the gala till 7 and then it will reopen at 9:30 till 11 so anyone whose come down the day before can sample the fine real ales on sale at Llangollen station. Get there and get your glass before we run out since the complimentary Betton Grange beer glass is making a welcome return.

After Friday the beer festival will be open daily from 12 till 11 at night for your drinking pleasure.

Apart from the beer festival there will be a selection of ales on the chocolate and cream buffet and a larger selection of alcoholic drinks on sale in the Thompson buffet that will be in the carmine and cream set.

Apart from alcoholic drinks there will be a number of the station Cafés open for your tea, coffee and ice cream needs.

Freight Cruise not confirmed yet however IF we are allowed to go ahead dep from Llan will be 19:00ish, return at 21:30ish. 5526 and 9017 WILL be the rostered locos subject to availability. \:D/

Due to shunting reasons, option A has had to be taken for Q2. However with the Beavertail now confimed the sets will be (1) Freight, (2) 7xBlood/Custard inc Thompson Buffet and (3) 5xMaroon inc Beavertail.
Loco suggestions are still welcome though, there is a meeting next weekend where we will do a provisional plan of the planned allocations. So as long as you have made your suggestion by friday afternoon it will be considered! So far we only have Paul, mine and MrPerfection. Remember we have 3 evenings to plan for too. Anyone else want to make one?

    To remind you locos are 9017, 3440, 5526, 246, 1306, 6430, 5643, 5199, 80072, 44806, 3802, (plus #12 TBA)

Next yr or so. Its always been planned first 5 years in BR green, second 5 years in BR black. She entered traffic in 2003. Was hoped to be repainted for SSS2 but now we are not so sure. See how our workload goes.

I take it from your 'smiley' you don't much like the idea of her being in BR Black. Lil Bear say's the plan was for 5 years in BR Green and 5 years in BR Black. It would be better to say that we hadn't actually fixed any particular time span for the Livery changes. What was agreed a long time ago was that she would carry various liveries including GWR Green, BR Black and BR Lined Green. This was to avoid any Livery Debate and give everyone involved a chance to see their favourite Livery.

As the person who decided to save her from Barry Scrapyard, I was always keen to see her carry the BR Black unlined with the large, cycling Lion totem, simply because that was the livery she carried during BR service and was withdrawn in.

With 5526 in BR Black at SSSII I also reckoned it would be good to double-head them in matching Liveries. So if there's time, yes I would like to see her in this Livery!

No no, I think she would look nice in BR black myself. Just wondered if it might happen soon or just for the last couple of years, But you have both answered that question.

With 5526 coming that does sound like a good plan and would be well timed. However with you planning to repaint 9017 for SSS2 I would of thought the painters would have a enough to get on with... but with that said it would be another nice black freight pairing I guess... 5199 & 9017.
