Having travelled from Liverpool to Llangollen using public transport a few times,I recommend that travelling by train to Wrexham is the best way. Wrexham Central is only a few minutes walk from the bus station and Wrexham General less than ten minutes. The Wrexham to Llangollen buses are, indeed, the X5 and 555.

I have a query - the publicity leaflet shows the dates to be 18 to 26 April but the text below says 17 to 27 April. Which one is correct? It would be useful to know when booking a B&B.

    Cheers

The dates of the Gala clearly state 18th of April 2009 which is a Saturday runing all nine days until the 26th of April Which is a Sunday

What has caused confusion is some people (on here no doubt) mentiong that there is a Members only train running on the 17th in the evening.

This train is purley for Llangollen working members, support crews for vising Locomotives and invited Guests at the discrection of the 6880 society.

If you are booked in a B & B on the Friday it will be worth it, as you could be on the first train Saturday morning where we you will be ideally placed to take advantage of one of the longest running days. depending on timetable expect 10.30pm last departure from Carrog.

    See you in April

Possibly slightly off topic, but will the 6880 display be at Warley model rail exhibition again this year???

The dates of the gala are the 18th to 26th. This is when all the trains will be running and displays open etc
On the 17th though we are opening the Beer Festival in the evening from 21.30 fr those arriving the night before.

Don' know where you have seen the 27th though #-o

Will there be an evening ticket, or a one round trip fare, available for those who have to work or who are merely passing by?

A full day rover might be seen as a means of making a donation to the converted - but to the casual visitor, or relative coming along, the full day charge for merely one round trip or an evening ride is not helpful.

"Paid up" validation badged may help TTIs if such a fare is seen as a likely revenue loser for the determined - but please remember - not every visitor is a fully paid up steam nut.

Just to give a taste of what is to come here is a picture of the recently outshopped Thompson buffet.

He's only got one steam loco, and seeing as we haven't got the right gauge of track there I doubt it.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've not got my hands on a leaflet yet nor have the time to trawl 19 pages -- are there any plans for a night shoot ??
    Thanks.

Its not been publicised yet as it hasn't been agreed, but we are hoping to run a shed shoot on Thursday the 23rd. More details once we have confirmation it is going ahead.

Just a quick thing for those of you like this.

The very post post I made back in July is being updated all the time to include all the info of what is going on. This hopefully saves you from reading through xx number of pages as it will all be there in the one post.

Regularly updating the very FIRST POST on this thread with the basic facts is an excellent idea lil Bear.

I know the latest edit is recorded at the foot of the posting, however may I suggest the date the FIRST POST is updated be typed in so it is more prominent to the casual viewer.

Its true il be there, just sorting my accomodation out. Please come and say hello if you have a broadminded sense of humour and are not offended by raw language as i can promise copious amounts of both. I wont be swearing at the public however, at least not within earshot of them. I will be volunteering as usual to do whatever needs to be done at whatever time, i cant wait as the last S.S.S was a legend. This one will be too so come support it guys and girls and meet the legendary me.
