Mr Perfection will be getting a visit from a scotsman with a claymore. It's scotch whisky not irish whiskey.

I'll agree with that. Had a weekend up in Glasgow, and ended up having a session on the skull splitter, 4 pints and i was crawling back to the hotel... Still cant work out how i managed to get there though. 6880 lads. Please get some...

A selling feature for me would be some idea of what hours trains will be running on each day. I'm sure that on the weekends the service will be more intensive and run lated into the evening/night than the weekdays. But i am looking at possibly making another trip over (though not as hair brained short a one as my 4 day trip to the SVR Gala in September), in particular to be there for the Scottish Day with Mayflower&Morayshire out and about and probably a day or two before/after that.

Obviously its far to early to have any hard and fast timetable details, but hopefully in the next month or so at least a loose outline of operating hours on each day will be available.

    Regards,

    Stephen

Talk to Lil bear as he is the master of the timetable and it is even at the moment a work of art.

On the subject of Scotch i think they'll be a bottle or two on hand in the Thompson buffet. Even if i have to put it there.

Due to volunteer availability, there will only be a 2 train service alternating among the 3 locos. First Dep from Llan will be 11.00 with the final dep around 16.30. There maybe 1 extra evening run but this is still to be confirmed.

With regards to the timetable, we will be putting the times of the trains on the website once confirmed. However, Loco Diagrams etc will only be available from the SSSII Souvenir Guide & The Working Timetable which will hopefully be made available aswell. WT/T will also include LE/ECS movements.

This event really is stretching Llangollen to its limits. The volunteers are all looking forward to it, but we all realise it will require a huge amount of effort and a great commitment from those involved. If anyone feels they can help on any of the days then please feel free to get in touch with either the rly itself or ourselves.

And nice to see you are considering visiting Stephen. Was good to meet you at the SVR and hopefully we will get to see you at this event. At least Llangollen is slightly closer to you than Bridgenorth, distance-wise at least...

Is there an update on the locos for the gala?

With 80072 still at crewe and 3802 without a boiler or wheels will they be running or have replacements been found?

Not yet. Still trying to negotiate for the the 'twelth' loco which is our focus of attention on the loco front at present.

The only part of 80072 at Crewe is the boiler, which should be returning shortly. The Std boys are ready and waiting to get the boiler fitted as there isn't much else they can do until that is in place.

3802, can't comment as I don't know that much at present.

Sorry I've not given too much info. I was hoping to have an update for today but circumstances changed so at present I can't. We will clear things up though once we are able to confirm what is going on. No point saying something only for it to backfire on us.

    Thank you Glyn.

Yes, we are now giving you guys the opportunity not only to come and visit Steel, Steam & Stars, but to be part of it aswell.

Our chairmans letter above outlines the reasons, and I can only hope some of you are interested by this invitation.

If you are, please fill in the form and either return to the address on the letter or make sure that one of Glyn / MrPerfection have it known to them by December 13th.

This is not the final date for making yourself available though.

If you do not know what dates you can do at the moment but would still like to be a part of the team, then still fill in the form of what you are happy to help out with and just put on the Availability form a number of days you think you may be able to help out with. At the moment we are just interested in a rough number of people who are at least interested in helping out.

No rostering will be done until the new year. Any questions feel free to ask.

Do the people volunteering for the jobs on the list have to be members of Llangollen Railway then. It does mention by one of them that the volunteer must hold a Llangollen Railway Personal track safety certificate, which i would imagine would only be issued to company members...

No you do not have to be Llangollen Members to volunteer your services.

For items such as Escorting the Film Crews however, only 6880 members who are also Llangollen Members and have a valid PTS will be able to do such a task.

For ALL other jobs though such as Car Park Attendant, Ticket salesman etc you will not have to be Llangollen members.

What about repainting the dukedog then? There is no real indication on the form as to who is officially allowed to do which task...

I know its Loco stuff but it is also Gala related.

Just had some pics through of 80072s boiler at Crewe one with 225lbs on the gauge and the other with safety valves lifting. 43years since her fire was dropped.

Well done to all involved Pete Evans and the guys should be happy bunnys.

Lets hope there are no serious snags and she makes it to the gala.

    Excellent news

    Will,
Are you repainting the 'Dukedog' in the carriage works where the proper painters are ?
This is a better environment for any new volunteers & of course plenty of tea is available.
We will make any members of other railways very welcome.

    Bob.

I believe that is the present plan, though you must know how often things change round Llan. But at the moment we hope that once she arrives at Llan she will go straight down to Pentre for rubbing down / painting etc.
