How much does it cost to camp - if I volunteer I want to spend as little as possible! Are there any places to camp for nowt if you're helping out?

    I think I'm working all 9 days.

£10 a day for a trailer tent. Prices on the Carrog Station campsite website.

No offence, but you get out of it what you put in.

Our idea is that for every 1 day you volunteer, we will give you a rover ticket for another day of your choice. If you are prepared to do this then please fill in the form on the Main Page.

This is your chance to be part of what will undoubtubly be one of the highlights of 2009.

Already we have some highly anticipated highlights.
A BR Black Dukedog in North Wales for the first time in over 40 years.
The pairing of currently the only 2 operating LNER Apple Green locomotives 1306 and 246.
The first ever visit of a D49 to Wales.
The first time in UK Preservation that three 4-4-0s will have worked together on the same line on the same day (including 4-4-0 Thursday).
Pairing of a Scottish Rly Museum and English Rly Museum locos 246 and 3440.
    Plus many others.

Hopefully we have something lined up that will make you want to visit Llangollen this April, and if you can spare a few hours just to help out we would be very very grateful.

Well, I'll be honest, I'm one of those 450 odd redirects who hasn't responded. If I make it to North Wales in April I intend to fill out the volunteer form for at least doing something (even if its just parking lot marshaling for part of either the Monday or Tuesday) to do my part (plus I'd like to say i have volunteered at a preserved railway, not just visited them), but I can not commit to anything until I get the time off confirmed from work to be sure I will actually be there, which has not yet happened. I am hoping to have confirmation by the end of January that I have time off so I can book flights, send in that form and order my tickets. If all comes through as planned i will be at the Gala for the Saturday-Tuesday to start things off.

I do have a question though about the pre-sale tickets, as a non-uk resident/tax payer, how does gift aid work? I don't think I can make valid donations that way, or maybe it doesn't matter, but I would hate to cause tax issues for the project by making an invalid donation over a few pounds that I could just as easily throw into a donation box during the gala.

M-J is looking at volunteering to help paint the Dukedog (always happy to paint something green to black \:D/ ) on a couple of her rest days but you appear to have the wrong dates on your form which correspond to 2008 not 2009.

Yes I believe you are right there regarding the dates on the form.

Just to make it clear: The repainting programme is scheduled to start Saturday 7th March and be completed by Sunday 22nd March. Let us know the dates that you are available when you can. Many thanks.

Anyone seen the SSSII Posters up around the Merseyrail Network?

There apparantly on the Community Noticeboards. I've seen a couple on the New Brighton Line, anyone else spotted them?

Haven't seen any on the Wirral or Liverpool loop. Is a community noticeboard placed at a station?

It is placed on stations that form a part of the community apparently. Maghull is normally used as the prim example for this, as thee the local people help maintain it.

Don't remind us! We've gone quiet for the simple fact we are too busy organising everything. As Will has mentioned we are still working on our final guest(s), the working timetable still has some 'i's to dot and 't's to cross, we are currently writing the 6880 roster as well so we can see where we have a shortfall in volunteers.

Come next month we will have 9017 to prepare and paint (all help appreciated btw) which will increase our workload even further. All will be revealed, I suspect everything will start coming together towards the end of this month and the start of March.

Though seeing as this topic has now been revived, you may have seen that the miniature railways will now be at Glyndyfrdwy. They will all be on the field behind the station building on platform 2 (Llangollen platform). The field opposite this behind the house which is behind the signalbox is also to be used as a car park.

Will the Black 5 be running with Maroon or Blood/Custard coaches and the Beavertail Obs (as per the West Highland Line) at any point over the gala? I'd have thought the Black 5 would be out on the Scottish day? Are there any details of photo charters with the Dukedog yet and will that loco be pulling BR(W) coaches and/or freight over the gala?

    Looking forward to it, Cheers,

    Rick

Hi, query may already ahve been put, but will the works be open for the duration of the gala or just at the weekends?
I ask as I was playing to come on the Scottish themed day (Tuesday), but was really looking to go round the shed for the first time.
Also, well-known model shop Hattons of Liverpool has leaflets for both Steam, Steel and Stars II and the Llangollen railway on the counter, good work by whoever asked them to do so.

The Works will be open midweek but subject to Regular Guided Tours, as the workshop staff will be continuing their work. Don't worry, 6880 and all the other projects, possibly even the 6880 stand, will all be in the workshop and on display.

Hattons is down to MEJ one of our Fireman at Llangollen. Hopefully you will also see posters on community boards on Merseyrail Stations, thanks to Lil Bear.

Even though loco diagrams aren't done yet it is in my mind to run the Black 5 with both combinations. The Beavertail will be with the maroons both weekends and there will be a 7 coach Carmine/Cream including the Thompson Buffet as well.
She is the reserve loco for this day. Due to crew availabilty we can only have 3 engines and 246, 1306, 80072 (52) took priority. However she will be running as 44801 for the gala with Blue smokebox numberplate to enhance the Scottish feel and compliment the standard.

Also if you speak with Sidmouth he maybe able to help you more with this.
BR(W) I take it you mean choc/cream? The answer same to one above RE: diagrams. BTW if you want the diagrams in advance the only way will be to purchase a souvenire guide.
    Great, so are we.
