If it was someone in a green jumper then that would be me. If it was someone with there young son then that would be MrPerfection. If you were on the 12.45 from Bewdey with 9017 or 12.10 off Bridgenorth with 42968 at Arley you were simply caught up in a domino effect :-#

I like the idea. Shall put it forward and see what everyone thinks. Even though the 3 locos for monday are still to be decided I am considering letting 9017 out to play that day. What are other peoples thoughts of the 'Freight Cruise'? Any loco in particular you would want?

This is not a dig, just a query.

I picked up one of the SSS2 leaflets recently, and notice that in respect of the advance purchase tickets, there is a gift aid option and relevant declaration on the form.

I was always of the understanding that outright payments to a charity in return for services, rights or goods are not gifts to charity and so are not eligible for Gift Aid tax relief. As such, tickets for travel, along with tickets for admission to events, could not be claimed for under the gift aid scheme owing to the benefits that the 'donor' receives in return for their payment.

I presume the society has found a way around these guidelines; any hints for the rest of us...?!

    Thanks,

    Nick

AFAIK That is why the GA tickets cost more, it's the 'extra' we count as a donation and what we claim off.

I suppose I could have my arm twisted and drive one of the locos for you depending on the evening.

Rather take the Black 5 out with 10 on

Available for both weekends and was thinking the thursday and friday as well depending on leave etc. Why can't we do a 9 or a 10 coach train?

Carrog loop is only just big enough for 9 coaches to sit in, but with the loco you have to sit in section, hence we had the 8 coach last time but even this proved problematic so it is being reduced to 7 for SSS2.

We could run a 9 coach train but if we did that we would then only be able to run a 2 train service crossing at Deeside. Plan is currently have the 2 sets with buffet cars out with the Freight aswell so people can ride a freight night or have a beer going up Berwyn bank.

Harry has taken charge of this side of things and has promised at least a set as long as 4 coaches. Main issue is Goods Loop which only takes 5 coaches + 1 tender loco. So as to allow banking I think the 4 coach length will be used, however see what H comes up with.

If we run a an unfitted freight, without passengers for the health and safety reasons, we could have the mega 26 wagon effort as was used when the 9f came for a visit.

    Now that would be good...

Maybe towards the end of the Saturday, combining 2 sets for the last round trip, passing at Deeside outbound and nowhere on the return? Just a thought :)

Oh, and further to our conversation with the SSS blokes at Keighley, I forgot to mention one idea for a visiting loco... Following the popularity of the Met tank, how about another great smaller loco - Bellerophon? :D

Well this is an option, and one I'm not too sure about.

We have the following sets out during the day:
    3 subs + parcels
    Auto Sandwich (2)
    7x Blood/Custard inc Thompson Buffet
    5x Chocolate Cream inc Buffet
    5x Maroon
    Freight

Now for the night the Freight is stayng out as that proved very popular at SSS1. Now the options are (1)Run 3 trains in total, Freight + Choc/Cream + Blood Custard, or (2) Combine 2 of the passenger sets, more than likely maroon + choc/cream and run 2 train service with freight.

What would you guys prefer? Remember we also have 3 evenings, Sat 18, Fri 24 and Sat 25. Would you like us to say run 10 coach + freight on friday then the 3 trains on the saturdays?

As for Bellerophon, even though I'd like to see her visit I don't think she'll be loco #12.

Please remember Flying Fiver that the guest Locos will have priority over the Home fleet

If you had any idea of what this is costing you would soon see why the likes of the Black five 3802 etc would not recieve much track time.

If you would like to put an event of this size together give me a week of your time and I might get through most of what it takes.

I think the Dukedog and 5526 would make the perfect combination and I would put my name down for firing a trip
