Heavy weekend for the support crew, I'm sure they'll enjoy it. Weather forecast for the week has some rain, after yesterday's drenching here in the NW it's likely fire risk will be low. Be nice to see the big girl strutting her stuff on the S&C again!

This weekends is out of Lime Street and is always spectacular and noisy.

Breaches the trade description acts etc that does, calling them Summer CME's for that part of Britain.

Still had snow chains in the car boot for my recently ended latest trip up there. Damn near needed them too if the Cairngorm weather had come just a little bit further South.

More or less to time away from Lime St, brakes appeared to come on as back of the train got to the end of the platform, short delay then diesel gave a helping hand to get her on her way.

A diesel! Pushing a Duchess!! Oh no, please not that. ;)

I am a SR man through and through but have the very greatest respect for these superb and immensely powerful LMR steam locomotives.

We had stopped crossing from platform 5 to the left hand line, the diesel push was to get us out of the way asap as there was one inbound service waiting and also an outbound.

Shame WCR can't find somewhere to leave the box until it's needed to return the stock to Crewe.

Fine thanks timing to Hellifield slack and we arrived 8 early after a very sedate run from Blackburn.
