Sunderland Council withdraws funding from Bowes Railway

    I have it on good authority that the appeal is going well, I am not sure of the total though.

    It would be a tragedy if this was lost; to my mind more worthwhile in terms of industrial history, than having yet another 'ordinary' steam line of a few hundred yards!

    Tragedy it may well be if it were to be lost, but I'm afraid to report that whilst things look to be going forward, they will do so without my input....

    After an initial promise that it wasn't the same old same old, and they wanted to rebuild trust with the former volunteers, look as if I was taken in...:(

    More fool me......:mad:

    This is how the Kibblesworth / Drift Bogie and B49 rebuilds came about (four waggons in total were rebuilt at the time)

    However, I wish the site all the best - they've not had it easy over the years. (A recent problem was damage to the track of the Springwell level crossing.)
