BR continued with the 'Tunney' design e.g. DB991079 (ex IU 024669) at the GCR, built to BR diagram 1/568 at Swindon in 1949.

Ok Phil you've twisted my arm! I only have two of these as surviving.....so must be considered as rare.
991079 BR 21t Steel Open Tunney Great Central Railway Swindon 1949 [1/568] 024669
991124 BR 21t Steel Open Tunney Severn Valley Railway Swindon 1949 [1/568]

The Southern Railway also had a wagon designated as 'Tunney' to dia 1771. These have fared better into preservation.

The SR wagon wasn't originally a 'Tunney', it was branded as that by BR; I presume they were used alongside the steel-bodied wagons for carrying spent ballast, as both wagon types were intended for much the same purpose.

Cheers Phil, I didn't know that. I'll have to amend those to notes.

I'll now list a batch of tanks that were built by BR which was rare in itself although several still survive.

    749650 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank Dean Forest Railway Ashford 1952 [1/304] (Class A)
    749652 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank zz - Coach / Van Bodies Ashford 1952 [1/304] (Class A) 061191
    749659 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank Willesden TMD Ashford 1952 [1/304] (Class A) 024482
    749670 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank Llangollen Railway Ashford 1952 [1/305] (Class A) 024327
    749676 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank Dean Forest Railway Ashford 1952 [1/305] (Class A) 21-70-0780-066-7
    749677 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank Llangollen Railway Ashford 1952 [1/305] (Class A) 024328
749678 BR 20t 4w Liquid Tank Chasewater Railway Ashford 1952 [1/305] (Class A) conv Water Tank
    749750 BR 20t 4w Oil Tank Heaton TMD Chas Roberts 1952 [1/307] (Class B) 041361
    749751 BR 20t 4w Oil Tank Immingham TMD Chas Roberts 1952 [1/307] (Class B) not found 29/8/09 041406

The tank listed as zz - Coach / Van Bodies is in fact at RUSPIDGE HALT. Railway Road, Cinderford Park, Forest of Dean. SO 650124.
A lot of these ended up as internal users and several of these are still on the main network as listed above. Dia 1/305, although listed as built at Ashford, this was the frames only with the tanks being built by Hurst Nelson. This dia was also registered for use on the continent although I only have the former RIV I/d for one. Some more research to do! The 2 dia 1/307 were the only ones built to this design. With the one at Immingham looking as though it may have already gone this would leave the only, unique survivor at Heaton TMD. There were also 2 batch's of 10 tanks built to dia 1/301 & 1/306 of which none survive.

None of these can be considered as rare as all three dia are well represented, especially the later. The 2 listed as zz - Coach / Van Bodies - zz are actually at Cromford, High Peak Junction.

BR continued the LMS diagram as 1/503 & 1/505 and generally look the same as the LMS 73xxxx series. Once again these are well represented.

The LWR have just acquired an LMS Brake van from Wroxham. Do you think this maybe the one? The serial number plate has gone on ours, so we don't know it's number - Is there any way to find out? Many thanks
