Not sure but guesses are that it will replace 42968 although I heard that repairs were going OK so it could be available for the gala - Maybe 42968 will be gala standby (which no doubt means it will get a turn - every time a standby is rostered it seems to be called up at some point LOL!!!) Failing that though no idea!

Will 5542 be able to drop into 42968's diagram with it being less powerful? 42968 is rostered onto 0720 ex Kidd on Saturday with load 7. Just a thought!

Also, 42968 is diagrammed as one of the night locos and as such is very much 'off stage' during the main gala days. Will it be justified to bring in 5542 to put it on a night time diagram when it'll be barely seen in daylight by the majority of visitors?

I'm not being critical - just provoking discussion. I'm really looking forward to this event. I've been dipping in to the WTT every now and again to try and get a feel for what's going on and what I'll try to do over the weekend.

4566 could handle load 7 (it regularly does) no problem so I can't see it being a problem for 5542.

5542 will arrive at Kidderminster by road on 13th, 34070 on 15th and 7802 will return from Swanage 17 September, per SVR Loco News 10 September

I've seen 4555 with 9 at Paignton and they have steeper grades than the SVR.

Great to see 5542 is joining in as well.
I was just wondering how much money you save by booking tickets in advance. Thanks.

    Hi All,

I am planning on coming to this event because I want a photo of 34070 "Manston"...

Could someone tell me if there are ANY nice shots I can gain at Hampton Loade of Manston facing Boiler First?

    Thanks

If 34070 faces south then you can take the cycle track south from Hampton Loade station. There's plenty of good places (easily found as you walk along the cycle path) to see southbound trains departing towards Highley. You can photograph northbound trains from here too but the locos tend to be coasting into the station.

On the SVR Forum it's been reported that 5542 will take 46443's diagram, and 46443 will take 42968's.

What will 42968 do if she is repaired in time for the gala? Spare?

That's what I've been informed of by a friend from SVR.

You missed 3 characters when typing that... 'e', 'n', and an apostrophe.. 77 miles off 5764 on Saturday for me! Could've stretched it to 95 involving fast car moves etc, but I'm not THAT dedicated :D

Can anybody explain to me how the SVR walk on breakfast service works (eg is it advisable to allow the whole KR-BH trip to eat), what you get and the pricing please?

Yes the service takes the whole line trip. Starts with Cereal or fruit Juice , tea or coffee, Then fry up with Toast Then more tea and coffee and usually more toast!!! Cant remember how much it was last year (but do remember it was good value!!!) and don't know how much it is this year (but again will be good value I am sure!!!)

Edit Sarah seems to remember last year the price was around £7.50 which does ring bells but not sure if it has gone up or not this year.
