Can I ask why does it matter quite so much, once you've seen it the first time surely you will then know which way it's facing,

Because if you're trying to work out where you want to be when during an entire gala of many workings and offerings it does actually help to know in advance.

Knowing which way a loco faces is extremely helpful when planning out a day. Say you've planned around see x engine at x location smokebox first. If you haven't seen the loco already that day and it turns up bunker/tender first then you're not going to be best pleased if the information you were given suggested otherwise. If you know an engine is going to be bunker/tender first on a certain train, then you usually plan a ride on that service or just ignore that particular run knowing you're not going to miss a forwards shot!

Do all locos that are in action on Thursday, comply with Friday's allocations ? As there's no allocations printed for Thursday !

Can someone please tell me the first train to depart from Kid on Friday? When I first looked it was the train at 8.30 but it now has a key for Saturday only. Am I right at assuming the 8.30 is the first, and the key is connected to the breakfast service?

Correct, it is 8.30 on Friday and the breakfast service is Saturday and Sunday.
I'll be dragging myself out of bed for that one.

Well, I'm on the platform for most of the day. Hopefully it'll be dry unlike yesterday, my coat and cap have not long dried out...
