Maybe, I've heard it's not in great condition though. And it did visit in 2010.

Does anyone know ticketing arrangements for dogs during the gala? Can only find info for normal days. I'm hoping on the Sunday to do a day of walking and riding on the trains, but can't find anything on the gala page.

Also, what's happening with the short GWR rake if there aren't any locals other then the auto? Will it run whole line as it is, attached to another rake, or not at all? And are observations usually tacked on to other trains?

As far as i know dog tickets (yes they are Rovers) are available at their usual price of £3.

What happens with the combination of the GW sets i imagine depends on what the plan is for the Severn Valley Limited for the gala. If the diner is running on the sunday i expect there's a good chance the toplights will be added to make full rake (8 or possibly 9). Given the lack of locals capacity will be the key issue.

You mean £2, and this is the case for the gala (the instructions have just come out)
I've yet to see a version of the WTT with set allocations. Hopefully something will appear soon.

Hmm, if you have a staff pass (you do say you're a volunteer), then it should be free with that.

I've always been under the impression that the dogs weren't covered by the pass? No bother anyway, I've no issue with contributing a few quid per trip.

That looks too good a lineup to miss.
    Time to motivate the co-horts!

Alex - Sally my Border Collie often accompanies on me on the train (Gold Medallion so First Class Dog :) ), but Gala trains are so busy I would not take her then.

Thanks for the advice. I'm only taking my dog on the Sunday which tends to be a bit quieter, and probably won't be on the train for any great length of time at once, I'm planning to hop on and off and walk between stations, in the hope that when we're on the train she'll nod off under the table. She doesn't mind trains too much and laps up any kind of fuss, but is not too keen on locos blowing off, so hoping for some kind firemen! :)

In all honesty, I don't think she will be happy or able to nod off under the table. Even Sunday will be busy and stressful for the dog. If you want to take her sometime on the SVR, message me privately and we can fix up sometime when you and she can come on my Gold Pass

Thanks for the kind offer, but I think she'll be alright. I've taken her on before on a normal running day when its been absolutely packed and she was fine, she's had a ride on a full Jacobite train and I'd go as far as to say she almost enjoyed it apart from when we went to see the loco! I wouldn't take her if I was spending all day on railway property as I think that would be a bit much for her .

Out of interest, does my GWSR work permit cover the dog as well as me on normal SVR trains?

On normal days the answer is yes it does (I've just double checked the instructions for dogs). I assume it doesn't on galas due to the special fares (though in case you didn't known, you are entitled to a discount)

Thanks for that, and the discount, I didn't know about that! I've booked my tickets now but I'm sure the railway won't mind a little extra money.

Consider yourself lucky, mine seems to take the chuff chuff chuff as a cue to start a barking contest! :Muted:

Thankfully I don't have that problem, my hound gives me the occasional growl if I'm leaving her walk too late and the odd yap when she's in the undergrowth chasing something, and that's about it! Oh, and lots of contented groans when she's snoozing. :)

Can people that bring dogs please think about others.

Not everybody likes dogs. Not everybody is fine with you coming into the compartment without asking bringing a massive dog in with you, trapping people in the compartment.

Not sure why people feel the need to bring a wolf with them to busy events.

I'm not exactly anti-dog entirely but dog owners when out in public generally do not think of others, mainly in parks (when there are massive 'dogs must be on a lead at all times' signs up) with open kid play areas nearby and people like myself who want to go for a run without being chased after.
