2857 was used to shunt 92212 into Bridgnorth platform 1 for the 9F to be weighed yesterday.

On 7 July the chassis of a recently acquired, ex-Barry condition, GWR Churchward 3500 gallon tender was delivered to Bewdley yard. This has been acquired by the Erlestoke Manor Fund (owning group of 7802 and 7812) and their website update is here. The tender provides a major move forward with the fund's scheme to build/rebuild an appropriate tender for Bradley Manor. Strip down work commenced 9 July to recover all useful parts. The fund is very fortunate in being able to secure this tender as very few unrestored examples are now still in existence. Unfortunately it has had no TLC since 1964/5 and the condition of the remaining plate work well illustrates this! It is a good reminder of just how much work went into the restoration of many currently operational SVR locos. The tender has come from the GW Llangollen Railway Steam Locomotives Group having previously been purchased from Woodham’s in the late 1980's. The number of this tender and hence its exact GWR/BR history is, as yet, unknown. Once found (this can be difficult with GW tenders) its history will be traced. As tenders in the yard became detached from some of the locos the puzzle of which tenders left with which locos remains to be fully solved. The EMF does though have the numbers of the tenders on arrival & which locos they were then coupled to as a start. Contributions through donation, share purchase or goods for shop resale would be very welcome!! See EMF website. An announcement will be made shortly regarding significant progress with arrangements to return 7802 itself to overhauled condition (SVRA forum).

Good positive news for fans of manor haulage on the SVR there! Was nice to get some miles behind 43106 on Saturday, which now seems back to full and fine health. Lets hope it can settle into some form of reliability and avoid anymore unfortunate mishaps. Any news on 92212 & 2857?

SVR website today answers one of your points!

"Ex GWR 2-8-0 locomotive from the 2800 class No. 2857 has been undergoing an extensive rebuild and refurbishment in recent years. We are now pleased to report that final test runs are now underway and that the locomotive should be in regular service very shortly. Our photograph here shows No. 2857 at Highley station during a recent test run".

    Thanks for this Martin.

This suggests the tender is number 2329 then & makes tracing of its history possible.

Didnt realise that a 2800 and and a 4500 were allowed over Victoria bridge. Considering that there has been much about what isnt allowed to double head over it then prehaps if such combinations are allowed the ASG should be made aware so they cab take advantage!

Good to see 2857 edging closer to traffic though - It has been too long!

The 45xx has been permitted over Victoria bridge double headed provided it is only coupled to the tender of the other loco & not the two locos together.

7812 & 4566 were recently in use this way whilst the 45 was under test.

It might be a straight shoot out between 1501 and 34027. I love both machines but I am rooting for '27!
