I was having a think about this and the GC does seem to be the most likely source of extra motive power. The "big three" if you will, of SVR, NYMR and WSR are all pretty tight for motive power. The GWR is looking at full reopening this year, ELR isn't very flush with motive power either. IMO, Llangollen and GCR are in the best position for hire outs.

I'd like to see the N2 stick around for a longer period of time, but IIRC it's limited to 6 Mk1/7 lms/gw/lner on the valley, so would have the same limitations as 5542. I'd love a 9F again, they're a dream to work with/on/under but the 3 operational are all tied up this summer (92212 Bluebell, 92203 NNR, 92214 NYMR).

I'm hoping for a black 5. There are a few around at the moment. 5305 is quite busy mainline, 44932 is off limits, the Riley pair have sporadic outings over summer so perhaps 45231 is an option? Anyone know which of the 5's will be working the jacobites?

The argument for covering steam diagrams with diesel has been done to death on the SVR. At the end of the day we advertise a steam train service and that is what the majority of our passengers turn up and pay their money for.

I was wondering if 30777 Sir Lamiel might be available from the GC as a hire-in for the Summer, but it looks to be back on the mainline from July.

As Andy mentions above, how about a Black 5, that would be good.

No doubt the SVR management will reveal all in due course.

Good girl! Now lets hope she behaves herself for a while. I'm bored of taking her apart/putting her back together now!

I for one am extremely grateful you do, otherwise there would be nothing running in the background while I'm taking apart/putting back together bits of Bridgnorth station!

Is anyone able to tell me which way round 42968 and 43106 are at present please? I'm hoping to swing by tomorrow.

Fourth loco altough we know you prefer to deny the existance of anything not built at Swindon and painted green.

Ooh I say! Interseting yes, and hopefully quite few people will come to see it and spend money.

So its official, then. It was in our shareholders' circular yesterday. A good line to run it on, and technically, it is a Class 5 (well, pulling freight, anyway!). Will be nice to see her stretching her legs, and hopefully will be able to attend the naming ceremony, as its the locomotive that I've sunk my £250 into.
