The Lady Armaghdale was the star turn this week, in more ways than one, in Hall 9 at the National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham where it featured in the tourism exhibition 'The Best of Britain & Ireland'. See the SVR's PR SVR-Online Forum :: View topic - PR: Lady 'A' at the NEC and the Twitter photo of the SVR stand Twitter / SVR official : Wow doesn't our stand D95 ...

45110 - Black Five, Ex LMS –her tender was loaded on a lorry ready to go back to Barrow Hill on 15 March. It had been used throughout 2011 with 42968 while her Fowler tender underwent repairs and overhaul (SVRA forum)

I guess 45110 is a long way down the list for overhaul then and there is not space for it at the engine shed.
How does the funding of repairs of SVR owned locos work is it affected by the large amount spend on the various civil engineering project that were all needed and the correct thing to spend the money on.

    Is it actually SVR owned?

3 steam locos (4930, 600, 45110) are owned by Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) Limited. All are out of traffic.

Friends of Locomotive 4930 Hagley Hall are raising funds for 4930's overhaul. It was announced a couple of years ago that the Company would transfer an equity share in the ownership of the loco.

All other steam locos on the line are owned by charities, groups or privately. AIUI currently the arrangement generally is that the SVR uses the locos during their certificate, does not pay a mileage fee and is responsible for the repair. The railway is consulting with loco owners at the moment about changing these arrangements.

There are six engines in service, and 20 not, plus two new builds (82045 and Catch me who Can). 1501, 34027, 813, 7802, 7714 and 6634 are having work done. 2047 is at assessment. Appeals are out for 4930 and 7819. 4150 and 82045 are progressing. IIRC 42968 may have a quick turnaround. The proposed deal around 80079 may see it and 75069 having funds for overhaul.

Going back to 45110 I'm not aware of a Friends or other support group (as there is for Hagley Hall, or indeed for the Rolling Stock Trust's 7819)

The last-but-one Q&A said the railway was drawing up an overhaul schedule. I don't know where that's at or what plans are though

All the above is my personal understanding and not from or on behalf of the SVR

I seem to remember that 45110 was bought by a group based in Surrey originally? When was ownership transferred to the SVR Holdings?

SVR Stock Book (1998) records she was bought by the 'Stanier Black Five Preservation Society' in 1968 and removed to Ashford, Kent, moving on to Bridgnorth in 1970. She was bought by SVR(H) in 1974.

The SVR has five locos in steam both days this weekend, with, out of the home fleet. only 43106 not seeing any action. That'd be a gala to most railways! Thank god we got all that winter maintenance done!

See in the article that Bewdley Tunnel now has CWR. Is this another nail in coffin for old railway traditions on heritage lines as I have read elsewhere that it may become more commonplace.

Some railway traditions are now out of date and therefore have either to be replaced and/or updated.

    This is going O/T

See Underground Lines 10 for the SVR's stance

Please can we go back on thread now? Thanks
