Hagley hall is suppose to be the next out of the Engine House, but like most things, I'll wait and see what happens.

 

And SVR News reports the Jinty has been moved next to the shed doors for a quick getaway!

SVR News Autumn 2012 Issue 179 describes the Engine House reorganisation in April 2012. Objectives included to organise the exhibits, where possible, in preparation for future movements. Hagley Hall was moved onto the back road, followed by the Jinty next to the grey shutter doors. These were moved "as part of the future-proof plan for potential works/restoration being carried out by the owning groups within the next year or so..."

I was in the Engine House yesterday for the steam gala, and Hagley Hall & the Jinty were indeed where you mentioned them to be, with 46443 & The Lady Armaghdale on the other track next to them.

I have a little query about the ASG. What happened to 1501? I think most of its turns for the day were covered by 4566 yesterday, with the pannier from Didcot covering for 4566. It was standing oposite Bewdley South Signal Box on the lines in front of the disused sidings when I passed it a few times, and there was no steam coming from it.

Other than 1501 not working for most the day, I must say it was a smashing event yesterday, with beautiful weather to boot! Despite all of the guest locomotives, I think my favourite performance of the day was Earlstoke Manor on the GWR set in the early evening. The echoes from the bark of its exhaust blasts were magical!

 

Apparently 1501 failed with Injector issues? I passed it just north Of Bewdley on the service with 43106.
Well set out gala and very enjoyable.. Wish I was there for longer!

 

I just wanted to pop in here and say thanks to Duncan, Ian and all the guys (and Gals) at the SVR for making 3650 and "The Black Cupboard Gang" that look after her, so welcome.

No wonder the SVR is one of the UK's premier railways, you couldn't ask for a nicer and more dedicated organisation - and that goes from the top, right down to the guys on the ground, be it paid or volunteers.

7802's boiler has entered the boilershop whilst the frames are progressed at Tyseley.T
he spare pannier boiler for 7714 is to have the new platework stayed.
75069's boiler should be next in.
47383 is planned to be started next year along with Hagley Hall (dependent on the completion of 34027) and 42968 is intended for an immediate turn around.

Of course, the usual disclaimers apply to all of the above.

 

Any word on the condition of 7802s boiler?

Perhaps a question I should have asked on Saturday at Kidderminster, but I think the 42968 group have the funds in-hand for this overhaul, so I wonder if they are intending to do it "Bradley-Manor" style, ie contract out some of the work to where it can be done the quickest?

 

SVR Engineering will have full responsibility for 2968's overhaul and how it is conducted; the Fund is merely making contributions to the process, both financially and practically.

 

Re 1501. I spoke to one of the crew briefly and I was told that the steam brake was not working. It was parked up by the signal box as the only place it would be out of the way and was collected by 7812 and transported to Bridgenorth with the Sunday morning goods.
Re the rest of the weekend, as always a great gala with the highlight, for me, 30120. What a wonderful engine.

7812 - Collett 'Erlestoke Manor', Ex GWR – The water feed pipe to the injector from the tender to the loco came adrift while working the diner on October 5th, a quick fix was deployed. She will be taken out of service on October 7th for a routine valve and piston exam time based on mileage run

That is very attractive - but I've already planned to attend the 50th Anniversary Gala at the North Gloucestershire NG Railway followed by Harvest Festival at church!

 

1501 was shunting various locos around the yard at Bridgnorth this afternoon, and 34053 was also in steam. Two locos in steam? The GC call that a gala!

Will the mileages for each loco be published at the end of the year ?, was thinking 7812 must have racked up the miles in the last 18 months.
