an interesting perspective and one I appreciate . It isn't ideal but the SVR I believe has done its best in the circumstances. I don't always think that posters have done themselves any favours with their postings .

I personally enjoyed the spring gala and the trains I saw seemed full

I was not in any way damning the November event, rather saying that the weather is more likely to be variable, and the daylight issue a factor. In fact credit is due to the SVR for putting on an alternative event after the ASG has been taken over by the visit of 60103. I'm sure the SVR ( of which I am a long-standing member) could not possibly turn down the invitation just because it came at the same time as the ASG. The East Lancs apparently benefited considerably from their two weekends of 60103 operation, and no doubt the NYMR will have likewise. Revenue is paramount, Heritage railways are a bit of a bottomless pit, moneywise!

Everyone comes at these things from a slightly different personal perspective, for me infirmity now requires I have a fighting chance of a seat, the last straw was the Tornado/Royal Scot overcrowding. Also I come by train to KDR now because it is less stressful than driving/parking.

I fully accept that others come at this from a different angle.

Weather permitting I will attend the "Season Finale" event in November.

Glad to hear some positive notes, the Spring gala was certainly very entertaining, it would be nice to get the all night running in the autumn, and as the time table hasn't been published yet, I am sure there is always chance! More comments like this please, lets at least be constructive in our criticism!

Tickets on sale from Tuesday - and I see the SVR has jacked up the price by another £5 (initially £25 per person). So it's £30 each whether you're an adult, child or concession plus the £1.75 fee per booking and entry cost to ride on the other services.

So that's £30 for your one timed run behind Scotsman/Tornado, plus another day rover ticket ( at a cost yet to be decided) if you want to stay and ride on other services. Also the SVR website now confirms that access to Kidderminster station and platform will be restricted to special event ticket holders only.

I hope the SVR can manage this event successfully, good luck to them, but one slip-up, particularly with "crowd management" and I can see the potential for upsetting people.

Just been looking at the timetable for this. On a 12 hour day Scotsman does four single line trips, a max of 5 hours. The other 7 hours it is at one end of the railway or the other doing nothing or on the front of a train waiting to depart. Am I correct? Considering the SVR is paying a premium rate for the hire of Scotsman, is this dead time, time wasted?

The rumour is that it has been limited to only 2 round trips per day.

You'd like to think they will allow cab visits or the such like, but then again, they will probably charge £10 for a minute or similar.

I believe there is some more information due out tomorrow (Monday) but I don't know what it will say.

I have to say that from looking at the SVR website the information doesn't seem to be all that clear and set out in a somewhat confusing way. Also selling just one day rover tickets and not the usual two or three day rovers for the non FS/Tornado trains is bound to inflate the price for some.
I really hope for the railway's sake the September event goes well and is a success, but the potential for a "crowd control" slip up with the resultant adverse effects seems to be growing bigger by the day.

I don't think they want people coming back to this one, less people per day then to deal with, makes sense really.
