Quite so, no matter how many appearances it puts in.

The 14xx looks like it should be a gutsy little machine if given a chance to properly stretch itself, and variety is the spice of life.

When 1450 gets the chance it's more than capable Spring Gala 2013 it did rather well on load 3 up Eardington and Foley Park! Yes it's nice to see it with an Auto Coach but it's also capable of handling load 3 or 4 and showing some of the bigger engines what it can do!

Well I'd rather be boring and have her back at the DFR using her auto gear if all she is going to do is double head these days with 178 and 238 tucked away.

The information on the SVR website does not say 1450 will double head all the time. When I was there last year with 6412 we did do a couple of double headed runs but auto work as well. 6435 did the same.

I don't really see how 178 and 238 are "tucked away". I can't remember the last SVR gala which didnt feature 1450 on auto workings, besides which it has run each members weekend and at various times doing footplate experience courses as an auto train.
In any case I can't help but feel there's some jumping of the gun going on here. 1450 double heading some trains doesn't prevent it from running in auto formation at other times over the weekend. Wait and see. As for 1450 returning to the DFR, the reasons for its change of home are best left to its owner.

Who can forget! If only I hadn't been 10 at the time - would of loved to have gone on these.

Usually with these statements on the SVR site the locos run in that formation the majority of the time. Such as 46521+4566 at the ASG 2015, didn't 1450 and 4566 run double all day in SSG 2015 (Sunday I think)?
Wasn't auto trains mentioned before and now it's been removed?

I hope I'm wrong, and as has been said 1450 on three toplights looks great, and yes both 64xx's took it in turns to not work the auto last year and did indeed double head together on the Sunday afternoon.

Still, I'm looking forward to a great event - it promises to be one. :)

Wouldn't it be a hell of a lot worse if 1450 didn't work at all?

Timetable with loco allocations now published. Some of it looks a bit strange such as the use of 34027 and 34053 between Arley and Bewdley on locals as the engine workings don't seem to balance. Maybe the WTT if published will clarify things. Definitely worth a visit.

I wondered if there was a typo with those two as they both look to make two trips each but in one direction only.

They could be top and tailing the train? Seems like the most logical explanation to me, although obviously not written on the public timetable. WTT would probably shed some light on the situation. You can see where a couple of light engine and an ECS move would take place to get them in the right place.

She's not doing a lot. Get there after 11 Fri&Sat and you'd be forgiven if you thought she wasn't running!

seeing as 1450 has been there the last few years and the three visitors are going to be the main reason most people are going to visit its not surprising the trains with the home fleet locos are usually the least full at these events.

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but, when is 34081 arriving ? Is it only stopping for the gala or will it be used on a normal running day ?
