Did you ever obtain the funds that I recall were once required to do some work on the structure of Bewdley good shed, or is it still in need of some TLC? (Sorry, not one of the EuroMillions winners....)

It was an in joke. Ernest is a mate of mine. Not my fault he lives in the land of the palm trees!

 

I am not sure to whom the responsibility for the structural repaire to the goods shed falls, weather it be the Wagon Department otr the SVR as a whole. But needless to say, it still needs a lot of repairs to the roof, and walls.

 

The wet weather has forced us to turn our attentions to the wagons inside the goods shed. The cattle wagon has recived the benefit of this attention. The usuall instruuction that we should remove only the rotten bits from the river side of the wagon, was met with the removal of all the wood on that side!
There was much interesting language going on in the goods shed this weekend, and just about every nut and bolt that had to be undone, appeared to be putting up some sort of resistance, either by way of the coach bolt just going round rather than biting into the wood to allow it to be undone, or by shearing off. Of course, with our finances being so limited, the remaining nuts and bolts will be tapped / Died, cleaned up, and re-used. Oh the trails and tribulations of Wagon work.

 

Well, this week, 94059, the china clay wagon, was supposed to be the focus of our attention. Her floor is already out, so the top of the frame was suppose to get cleaned up and primed, but rain stopped play on that. I'm not affraid to get cold and wet as someone tride to say today, but paint doesn't take to water very well.
So the Mica B got some much needed TLC, with the steel work on the body and the repairs to the north end Ice Box, getting the majority of the man power.

 

There has not been much movement on the wagons them selves this week, we have spent the weekend having what could best be described as an industrial strength tidy up. Many thanks to all those from other groups that have assisted with this, the place is almost unrecognisable now.

 

Cheers Martin, as you can see, work has not seriously started on this wagon yet.

 

Well, one final up date for 2009.
Work on the goods shed has continued well, many thanks once again to the folks who have helped there, hopefully the work will keep us one step ahead of the Health and saftey bods, and allow us to continue to use this ageing building hopefully for many more years.
To the wagons them selves, the timber has arrived and been cut to size fot the Mica and the cattle wagons, although with work been concentrated on the building, the wagons have just inched forward slowly for the last couple of weeks.
Just to wrap up for the year, thanks to everyone who has leant a hand (too many to mention) from the regular members of the gang to the Motive power lads who pop over some times after something to do. A thank you to for all my regular readers (3775 hits last time I checked!) I will be starting a new thread in 2010, probably imaginatively titled like this one!
