Its the Hilti ones that we have. Acquired second hand and have been in use for a few years now under our wagons.
Yes they are still noisy, so muffs needed.

We use the Trelawny air powered needle guns, considering the hammering they take they are excellent. On the odd occasion that we have required spares their service has been superb. Biggest drawback as all users and anyone within a mile radius is the noise, especially anything that will ring.

This week, the door stops have been removed off of van number 80982, crawling under the bench to remove the bolts from the river side one involved one person using his jumper and body to sweep the van floor! New stops have been made and fitted and had a coat of primer already.
Work has begun on filling the holes in the bodywork, as most of the body is in good shape this involves car body filler and a degree of skill to make it look the part.
Under the wagon work is progressing on the chassis, there are only so many ways to describe chipping off scale and applying primer so I won't go into detail here.
    Wish us all luck

This weekend our activities on 80982 have been very varied, with some under coating of the patched and filled parts of the body going on, while inside, the timber cladding was refitted around the river side window, this involved taking the shel fartly down, as we pointed out, if you had to wreck the cladding to get it out, you can't expect the new cladding to go in the same way. This supposedly simple job became time consuming owing the the reluctance of the nuts on the shelf to undo! Mean while out attentions also turned to re-glazing the end windows and repairing the frames around them (Car body filler and swearing being the raw marerials for the repair)
If anyone fancies a go at helping us out feel free to contact the Volenteer Liason office at Bewdley, a sense of humour is essential and a knowlage of anglo-saxon is usefull
    Have fun

Over the last few days the lads have been busy, 80982 has started receiving black top coat on the body, while the south end window has received its new glass, although an issue has been found with the north end.
Work has commenved on a repair on conflat number 39860, this wagon is the last of its type, and although it has been found to need a new floor hopefully there will be no other horror stories revealed in the next few weeks!
    Take care folks

Well its time to bring you up ro date with progress. 80982 has received a coat of top coat on her body, while the new timber around the River side North end window has received a coat of primer (We are trialing a different brand of primer to see if there is any improvement) while the old timber on the other side is back in place, as it is still in good order, and our attention can turn to else where.
Meanwhile, taking advantage of the nice weather and not wanting to get to involved in anything too long winded on sunday with the England - Wales 6 nations rugby game in the afternoon, 80603 has had a little work on the brake gear, in readyness for summer when we should pick up where we left off on this wagon, and hopefully make light work of it.
    Wish us luck folfs.

Well, after the fun of gala weekend, I hope those of you that came enjoyed seeing the goods going up and down and enjoyed the weekend as a whole.
Moving swiftly on, mess van number 80982 has started to receive some sign writing on the out side, while work has started on the floor. Removing the timbers has revealed the metal sheet underneath to have a few holes in it, but nothing we didn't expect, this will be the focus of our attention for a little while. Meanwhile outside 80603 has received a coat of black paint all over, hopefully this wagon will be back in traffic shortly.
    See you soon!

Well, this week we have made progress on several fronts. Firstly we've had a shunt around, 80982 is out in the open although she still neeeds a lot of work. Her floor boards have been lifted infront of the door, ready for replacement, however, the tin underneath has also rotted, this is not structural so will only recieve attention where it is fastened to the floor boards. One patch has been cut and fitted and the second should be in place next week.
Inside the shed, work has started on Cadbury Wagon number 346's roof, this wagon is a steel bodied van built on the frames of a much older wagon and was based at their works in Moreton, Cheshire, despite the number of people requesting it, it was not painted purple, nor was it a Bornville wagon.
1896 built CONE (Improvised gunpowder van) number 58725 has been brought in for some TLC too, this wagon was built as one of the GWR's legendry Iron Minks (Other railways had them too but the GWR ones seem to be the most well known) however her history has had a few twists and turns. She became a gunpowder van just prior to World War 2 and it is in this livery that she is most well known, however, during her restoration in 1980, evidence or the livery of another railway was discovered, and it is belived that she is one of a batch that had a spell on loan to the southern!
The operational fleet was in use during the gala of the other week, and during this time one or two issues with Toad Brake van 68501 with sticking doors became apparent, this has now received attention.
Finally, although not one of our projects, still worthy of mention, Gane A number DB996730 has recently been outshopped by the C&W dept, I notice she still has a red card on her so I am guessing there are one or two little jobs that still need doing on her but I don't have details of the work carried out I am affraid.
As you can see, we have been busy,
    Take care
    Olly

Sorry for the delay but a mixture of holidays, decorating and illness has kept me away from Bewdley, but the floor has ben bolted down in 80982, and attention has turned to re-painting the interior, meanwhile outside, the new step boards are on and work is moving apace underneath too, hopefully I'll have more to report over the next few weeks,

Sorry it has been so long, those of you that know me will be aware that I've been so busy with guards and even a couple of firing turns, not to mention work, that my feet have barely touched the ground, just a quick update, as I have only really had chance to walk past the wagon dept this weekend, but work is progressing on mess van number 80982, it will be good to have the old girl back to normal, while the first coat of lettering is going onto ballast wagon 60906.
Next weekend will be action packed for me again but I hope to bring you fuller reports later in June.

Sorry I still have no up dates to bring, as I am been kept on my toes guarding and so on, but if anyone is interested the goods is out on this Sunday (the 8th of June) and again next Sunday (the 15th) between Kidder and Bewdley doing guards refresher courses, the loco is just booked as a diesel, so could be anything from a Green 20 to the NSE 50, but might be worth popping down to take some pics.
We are booked four trips over that section, hope to see a few of you about,
    Take care,
    Olly
