will a Duchess have clearance now though for the Route? in BR days, weren't they banned from the Bournemouth Road because of clearances at Southampton? when there was a plan to move the MN's up North and bring Duchesses down south.

Gauging is in hand, hence the reference to it on the initial announcement. There is always a balancing act between delaying an announcement until everything is utterly certain and ending up with everyone having made other plans, or announcing everything immediately and then being on Plan Z by the time of the gala; hopefully the fact that we have held fire until gauging is in progress and all contracting parties have agreed to advertising is a happy medium.

Just need it to bring some maroon coaches with it! :D Big red engine on green stock, hmm. I'm in, looking for hotel booking.

It will look good on the dinning set though :)

80078 now announced as the second guest engine. I wonder what I can do special with the loco workings, as we’ll have two of them...

Maybe...maybe then turn one of them so you can then get the passing shot, preferably at Corfe; could have a bit of fun here.

Absolutely... very nice indeed. But doubling back towards Swanage over the extension would be quality

So not a bad line up me thinks:

    T9 30120
    U 31806
    BB 34072
    Duchess 6233
    BR Std 80078
    BR Std 80104

And by all accounts another visitor......

And if the timetable is similar to the last 11 years of diesel and steam galas it defiantly wont be a 9-5 gala.....more like 0800 - 2359 :)

That list misses out SKP which I would have thought would be easier to return to service than 257.

    Why?
Yes I know its not on the list because it is probably thought she wont be ready as the work is being concentrated on 257. Seems rather logical to me...but what do I know

I had been told (obviously incorrectly) SKP need relatively little doing to it when it came back from the SDR. But your info is probably far better than mine.

I understand SKP has lent a couple of parts to 257 so she can come back into traffic.

Injectors on 257 wouldn't pick up at full pressure apparently hence use of SKP's I believe.
SKP was scheduled to get Manston's.
Assuming there are enough hours in the day so-to-speak then all should be well.

Ae we sure that 80078 is coming? The web-site still advertises only 6233 as a visitor at the moment. If the theme of the gala is "The Locomotive Exchanges" then 80078 seems like an odd choice. Standard 4s weren't around in 1948!

80078 is attending; while it may not entirely fit with the Locomotive Exhanges theme, neither do 30120, 31806 or 80104. The website is to be updated with 80078 in due course.

We are hoping to make a further announcement tomorrow; when this goes live on Facebook, I will ensure it also gets posted here.

Only 4 weeks to go and no news on the SR website beyond the appearance of the Duchess. Potential punters need to plan!
