Why not, it's a livery it has worn for a long time, part of it's history really.

Suspect options will concentrate on either GDSF Dust or GDSF Mud as the most likely livery change.

As 31874 was modified in 1957 receiving std4 cylinders with outside steam pipes the only correct livery from a purest point of view would be BR Black late crest although final decision is yet to be made. Most of the swanage locos have late crest and I've heard that early crest is favoured for 31874 just for a bit of a change.

A while ago whilst firing to one of the owners I suggested that as 6695's western livery was not authentic to the Southern region branch that it might be better for the railway if it were painted Blue, perhaps with a big number 1 on the side. The amount of shoveling I did for the remainder of the morning suggests he didn't really see the funny side.

I think its safe to say that Sodor Red is very unlikely to be seen on Swanage any time soon.

I wish I could be so sure about a Network South East liveried 08 shunter. I think they were only joking...............:eek:o_O

With a BB, 7F, 8F and possibly a std 4 tank, there's more than a hint of S&D about this gala, which, 50 years after its closure, can only be a good thing.

80104 now not appearing at the gala due to ongoing work. I assume this is why loco allocations are not shown yet.

Loco allocations now on the timetable. Anybody know which way round 53809 and the 8F are facing? Or haven't they arrived yet?

53809 arrived last week facing Norden. Not sure about the 8F.

The timetable shows a freight standing at Harmans Cross from 1255 until 1331 during which time passenger trains cross there at 1310 to 1315. How is that possible? Similar later in the day

Are any of the visiting locos rostered to haul service trains other than on gala days? Thanks in advance. <BJ>

Shame that the 8F's turns on the freight are t/first, particularly the 0900 ex-Swanage, but can't have it all! The 1000 departure looks tasty though with 53809 heading 34070 - can't beat a classic S&D combo, particularly with green stock.

So everything is facing North now then, aside from 30053 which turns a couple of times during each day?
