I'd be pretty depressed by the sight of the double-decker EMU coach too I imagine. It's very much a private site isn't it at Sellindge? I'm often in the area seeing family so have wondered if any of it's viewable but always got the impression it was out of bounds.

Back on the Swanage topic, any info about next week's steam and diesel weekday roster when possible would be great.

Next week should be 34028 on the steam service, with a 33 (unsure which one at this stage) on the diesel diagram. We are in the nice position, given that the 108 unit is currently at Eastleigh, of loadings exceeding what the Bubblecar can cope with on its own.

That's sorted my Tuesday plans then, thanks Rumpole. Was toying with a few options in the area for my lieu day and had decided that if Swanage was a Bulleid Pacific and a Cl.33 that's where I'd head, and there you go...

They are at Swan Farm, home of the Birch family. We were exhibiting the Ruston Proctor at the steam fayre there and wandered down to where the locos are stored on the Saturday night. People were camping a few yards from there so I'm guessing it wasn't a problem having a look

Rumpole, thanks again for publicising the loco roster for the week on here - without that bit of info I probably wouldn't have gone to Swanage today but ended up having an absolutely excellent few hours with 33111 and Eddystone. Very frequent service even mid-week, superb weather, some reasonable gradients for noise, loads of walking options to get some pictures in different locations too, two pieces of classic Southern (Region) traction, and staff/volunteers who all seemed to be going beyond the call of duty to make sure both enthusiast and non-enthusiast passengers were having an enjoyable visit. Great stuff.

I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit; you may well have seen me around, as due to the rostered Guard being marooned in the south of France by a railway strike (!) I ended up Guard on the last couple of trips with 33111. That must be one of the best reasons I've received so far for someone not being able to do a turn...!

How much longer does 34028 have in service,

Its ticket runs out mid August. I think it might be 17th. Hurry while stocks last!

Reviving an old thread with the usual loco roster question about the Easter weekend. Finally got some time to myself and fancy a day at the seaside! Many thanks in anticipation.

What is going on with 6695 GWR tank. I haven't seen any news about it since I heard about the lorry carrying it buckling, I would love to travel behind it again!

Currently stripped down at Williton on the West Somerset Rly and undergoing a 10 year overhaul.

Boiler is in the yard next to the Swindon shed and the frames are in the shed completely bare and have received repairs to the front end, presumably to correct some of the damage sustained from the incident last year.
