Not good. Fingers crossed Swanage can get 34028 or 34070 or 34072 operating again soon, obviously for their own benefit and as 31806 is due to come to the Spa Valley Railway for the Gala on 13 - 15 June.

But with Southern Locos not much further away from Swanage loco shed than the combined length of a few large spanners they should hopefully be able to achieve that.

So, hearing that both 257 and Manston have failed but not seeing any info on what the failures are? Anyone in the know?

563 quite superb today on the 1520 from Swanage battling a strong west wind with a heavy 5 on 185 tons. One of my best ever climbs sustaining line speed. Incredible from a loco 132 years old. Many congratulations to the crew

My understanding is a broken injector pipe on Manston and an issue with the middle valve gear on Squaddy. The issue with Manston is not a difficult fix.

Manston should be a relatively quick fix. In regards to Eddystone, I believe she will only be running be running a few test services before leaving for Southall in the next month or two.

A broken injector pipe is somewhat different to a burst tube, which usually refers to those in the boiler.

Whatever the issue is/was it had the scaffolding tower against it yesterday afternoon and one of the fitters appeared to be unscrewing the casing on the flat top.
