Just an initial notice for your Diary.
Details of this new Gala will be announced in due course but NRM's Drummond T9 4-4-0, No. 20120, will stay on after the Swanage Railway LSWR Weekend (15/16 March) so it can feature in the Spring Gala too.
The T9 should arrive on SR metals shortly before the LSWR Weekend but I do not know when it will return to Bodmin & Wenford.

Anyone know when any more details will be announced for this? I notice there's a page on the Swanage website for the diesel gala a month later but nothing for the steam gala

The re-vamp of the Railway's website is, unfortunately, running behind schedule.
Details will appear as soon as possible but highlights are:
30053, 30120, 34028, 34070 and 6695 hauling 3 train timetable between Swanage & Norden [two 5 coach rakes (all stations) and one 2 coach rake (non-stop between Swanage & Corfe Castle)] from 1000 to 1700-ish both days.
Freight on Sat & Sun - Swanage dep 0900 & Norden dep 0935.
30120 on Saturday Night Dining Train running 4 round trips between Swanage & Corfe Castle [non-stop each way].

I expect it's taking a long time to upload all of APMW's photos and type his name a dozen or so times on to every page.

So there's plenty of time to upgrade the website with 20 photos all taken by you know who but no time to do something useful like upload the timetable and loco allocations. Don't think I will bother to attend now.

Timetable can now be found by following the link : timetable: date. But no loco allocations.

Still not sure if we will go as K&ESRly are running 32678 that day

Let's hope that 'Manston' will be available after it's visit to the WSR. <BJ>

To all those people who have contacted me about timetables with loco allocations, thank you. Just to keep you informed Manston should be arriving back at the railway on Tuesday, and there will then be a concerted effort to get it available for the weekend. The best thing that I can say is that everyone will try their best.

Other options are being considered which may lead to a change to the current loco diagrams; if it is ok with all of you, I will hold fire from sending the diagrams until there are some further developments. We have a meeting at 13:00 today to discuss the situation and finalise contingency plans, and there should be something to report later.

Apologies for the vague nature of the above, but as you can anticipate we are very much dealing with the sort of unfortunate event it is difficult to plan for!

A little bit of a cryptic update...

As stated above, Manston is due to arrive back tomorrow, but it appears that it will be touch and go as to whether it is ready in time for the weekend. Enquiries are therefore being made with a view to sourcing a replacement which, if successful, would result in that taking over Manston's diagram if it is not fit, or if it is fit then 6695 would become 'standby' loco in order to create a theme for the event.

I'll try and keep everyone informed as soon as there is something concrete.

Sounds like a very good plan. I wonder if it involves diverting one of the other Southern locos that will be returning south from the Wizzer about the same time? No need to say anything, just nod... ;-)
