The plan had been to finish off this repair before the Easter weekend but '28 had to be put into traffic at short notice on Tuesday 30th March due to the unplanned failure of 53. '28 has been in traffic from that day to this. Easy to be critical........................ I'm sure it'll get done at the next washout/water change.

34028 stops on Sunday. For washout exam, funnily enough.
We plan to sort out the filler and paintwork then. Its difficult to do this while its running!

Please does anyone know what locos are going to be in use at Swanage this week? (No loco roster shown on the website)

Also, bearing in mind "Ollie" has a nine day layover between arriving at Swanage this Thursday and taking the "Royal Wessex" back from Weymouth to Three Bridges on 30th, I wonder if there's any chance ot might be used on Swanage Railway services in the intervening period?

    Thanks,

    John

The turntable at Swanage is too small for 70013 so I wonder if it might go 'straight' to Yeovil Junction for turning and then wait there for it's next working?

6695 in traffic today and during the week; from conversations today I would say it is likely to be joined by 'Eddystone' next weekend for the driver ex/Sunday lunch trains. Will re-post if any changes to this.

Have heard suggestions that Ollie will go back to Southall light engine and support coach on Friday 22nd but not seen anything concrete as yet to back that up DH

Just to bump this thread a little prior to the start of our peak summer timetable this Saturday, locos in use from this Saturday are planned to be 80104 and 34070, with the hybrid 121/108 DMU doing the evening services.

The following week (w/c Saturday 28 July) it is planned that 3 locos will be in steam, provisionally intended to be 53, 6695 and 80104.

The usual subject to availability clause applies.

By way of update, LSWR M7 No.53 has replaced 80104 alongside 34070 for the rest of this week, up to Saturday.

Decisions are being taken as to what will be in steam next week, and further information will be posted when this has been decided.

This Saturday during the day will be a two train, three loco service operated by LSWR M7 No.53, GWR 66XX No.6695 and class 33 No.33 111.

Because we are running 2 6 coach trains but only have a 5 coach loop at Swanage, the arriving loco will be replaced by the 'spare' loco at Swanage at that time. So people can work out the likely locos for each train, 53 is first out from Swanage (light engine for the 10.00 from Norden), 6695 is second out on the 10.00 from Swanage and 33 111 is third out on the 10.45 from Swanage. From this, you can work your way through the timetable to see what the 'spare' loco is at any given time.

Saturday evening also sees the firework trains operating until the last departure from Swanage at 23.00, with the motive power for these evening trains being 33 111 and the hybrid 121/108 trailer DMU.

On Sunday, 53, 6695 and 33 111 are in operation as above, but we will also be running a third train in the form of the DMU.

    Paul

Visited the Railway yesterday, Norden-Swanage-Norden, on the return journey riding on the footplate of Manston. What an utterley fantastic trip recommend anyone who has the chance to take it up. Worth far and above the £30 ish it cost me. Thanks to the crew of the 16:00 Swanage (Bill and Billy) for making me feel welcome on board.

Yes, all things being equal it should be 34070 and 80104 this week, with the DMU on the evening services up to 22.35 ex-Swanage.

Just to update this, from tomorrow (Saturday) it will be 80104 and 6695 in traffic; tomorrow morning is 80104 on the 10am from Norden and 6695 on the 10am from Swanage. This is planned to alternate each day until Wednesday, when it is planned 80104 will be pulled.
