The Friends of the Kirklees Light Railway will be holding their ninth annual gala over the weekend of 13th & 14th September 2014. The theme for this years event is “Tanks for Coming” which will feature a number of tank engines. Running alongside the home based tank engines Fox, Badger, Hawk (subject to completion of repairs) and Owl will be Wroxham Broad visiting from the Bure Valley Railway, Lydia from the Perrygrove Railway Supporting the tank engines will be privately owned American outline 0-4-0 tender loco Soony, which has already arrived and waiting to be let out!

In addition to the trains at Clayton West, there will be a photographic display of previous events, a model exhibition, vintage vehicles, steam rollers and a traction engine.

The locomotives will operate an intensive timetable featuring a mixture of full line trains and shuttle services from both Clayton West and Shelley. Services commence at 09:40 each day. An evening train will operate on the Saturday departing Clayton West at 20:00. The traditional “Shelley or Bust” final train on Sunday will be hauled by as many locomotives as possible and is booked to depart Clayton West at 17:00. We will also be operating a limited timetable using a variety of locomotives, including the visitors, on Friday 12th September.
