Where exactly were these more competent people coming from? The people who illegally leased the railway out? That doesn’t really sound like a solid starting block to me. Let’s not forget there was incompetence on a grand scale which brought the present situation about.

Why shouldn’t Elizabeth Perry continue to factually and politely call out the situation? It may not change anything on the ground at the TVR, but so what? If we extend the thinking that it is better not to call out bad behaviour we end up with all manner of bad outcomes. Like individual volunteers being made to fear violence in their own homes as a result of holding a different opinion. No one has to read this thread.

    Looking at the website
"Open every day until Wednesday 4th September (inclusive) (closed on Fridays)
trains running hourly from 11.30am until 3.30pm."
May not be as good as the days Elizabeth was a director.
But they seem to be keeping something going, anyone able to visit to clarify?

I see Quarry Hunslet ‘Alan George’ now has a facebook page for updates. Last was in April
    https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61552006870329
"Most of the work on Ag is underway or completed. We will need to raise funds to repair the boiler and finish off the plate work. We have funding in place for the chassis work and some left over towards the boiler work. If we can raise the funds as soon as possible we should see AG in steam this year for her 130th."

    Is Sinembe loco still there?
In early April 2023, Sinembe (Bagnall 2287 of 1926), an 4-4-0T, arrived at the railway. Sinembe will be on static display in the engine shed.

Enterprise : thank you for this comment. As one who joined the Vale of Teifi Narrow Gauge Railway Project in 1978 and held out a collecting box for 10p donations to "bring back the railway", filled in umpteen EU grant applications to build the railway and helped to run it for on and off 40 years, I had a trackside view of one director's crazy obsession with making money by selling the Company which led to the 2014 disaster and was relieved when he hid away from legal action. But it soon became obvious that he was back as personal adviser and a campaign had begun to rewrite history.
I do not enjoy reporting the changes that have taken place but they are fact.

No one is saying that is wrong. However, I suggest digging a bit deeper. It’s not always as polite as you would hope.

For example, look back in the thread when sour grapes reared their head. The poor review on Tripadvisor being a great example of how it isn’t always entirely innocent at all, it was unnecessary and designed to put people off visiting and certainly didn’t come across as someone who cared, I’ll leave you to look back and see who the author was.

It’s things like that which lead me to question the innocence, politeness and honesty of some of the posts and comments. You may disagree but it’s all there in black and white.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the current set up is far from perfect but at the same time neither was the previous incumbents . As I said before though there doesn’t seem to be an alternative, if there was it’s never been mentioned on here, hence my earlier comment.

But that is the problem, it’s okay pointing out the facts but what about things such as the Tripadvisor review you left? That kind of thing seems more about a personal vendetta, I’d be interested to hear why that was justified?

But that isn't the only one-star review of the line, is it?

No one said that it was.

Perhaps you should read back and see the difference….

I looked at TripAdvisor just now. 160 reviews 4 and 5 star. 33 reviews 1 to 3 stars. I think you have to think that this is no longer a heritage railway in the sense that we understand it. It looks to be now a children's fun park with cafe and a pixie train attached. If you have small children then fine. If you are looking for the Nat Pres experience then go to the Gwilli.

Patronising as ever. I read your comment which seems to place you as one of the "shut up, Elizabeth" brigade. Or have I misread you? Do tell me.

A friend of mine occasionally volunteers at the Gwili, he recommends it too.

(edit: incorrect spelling of 'Gwili' corrected)

It isn’t abusive and nor is it untruthful at the time it was written. Currently the railway website doesn’t claim a steam train ride is possible, though it used to do so even after it wasn’t. Possibly just an oversight on the railway’s part.

In England this now seems to be the way NG and "miniature" railways survive?. But many seem grateful for the train enthusiasts who volunteer.

Well, I certainly enjoyed my trip on the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway on Sunday, which seems to be doing well?
