Well, I went for the £5 sign-up on the day the system went live. Would I have gone for £10 if it was the minimum? Probably. But it is a big jump.

However, we should always be clear to people that you only need make a payment if you want to receive live real-time info. If you are one of the ones who would like to be a contributor of messages and not necessarily receive them, like the very kind "wehaveaproblem" on yesterday's tour, then registering to send costs absolutely nothing and sending in texts about a tour is at your standard message rate (ie free for lots of people)

There was someone else on board doing most of the posts. I am on Thursdays Trip so you should get a few from me. Glad the system is working well and being used.

Strange, I think there have been more texts in the last couple of hours or so about the Cornish Riviera then there has been the whole weekend. I sent 2 from Tilehurst & I see someone else sent one from Tilehurst plus one from Woodley a few minutes later. We must be a dedicated lot around here.

That was me from Swindon and then from Woodley. I guess we need to do more work to get people on the trains to text :)

Thanks for the texts from Tilehurst, we were wondering where it had got to. Mind you, then it was on us so quick we were all surprised!

Members sending updates now do not need to subscribe to any tours or send in the START STOP text messages.
However you still need to include the tour code.
Members wishing to receive updates do still need to subscribe to tours. This can still be by text message or on the website.

This is due to the huge number of people sending STOP and START messages ten or fifteen times for the same tour. we get charged for every confirmation you receive.

You will now be charged for the START and STOP confirmation messages, this is because we also offer you the place to subscribe for free on the website.
This charge will be 6p per message.

You can choose if you want to receive the confirmation messages by visiting your account settings page.

I have changed the way people register on the RailTours Live site.
New members now have to send a message from the phone they want to use to confirm their account.

Thank you for all your hard work on getting this system working. Let's hope we get lots of contributors now.

I would welcome feedback from anyone about this system. We are a month old now,
How is it going for you.
Have you registered, if not why not,
If you have registered but not added credit to your account, is their a reason?
Are you using the commissions system to earn money?
Do you have any suggestions or comments.

It's obviously getting very popular, judging by all the posts appearing in the "New Posts" summary list. In fact, there are sometimes 5 or more text alerts for every new post on other subjects, which makes the other posts difficult to look through.

This will probably upset the railtour followers, but do the text alerts need to appear in the 'New Posts' list?

What's with the texts that just give a four digit number sometimes followed by a single word that doesn't seem to mean anything?

It's a bug, I am trying to get the system to stop sending out these codes, whilst not disrupting the messages being sent out.
    Proving to be quite difficult.

Thanks for that Glyn. Hope you get it sorted soon.

    No problems.

  19. Assuming you have the usual dev, test and live set-up, can you roll back to an earlier version of the software ie one that was free of this particular bug?

Unfortunately, it would be more complex reverting back to the previous version, than to run a patch on this one.
I think I have got the solution now though. Will be adding the patch later tonight.
