I think you may be right about the limited knowledge of the service. Going back retrospectively to three email gen groups, I have counted over 19 email messages posted during the day about the progress of 70000 on 7th April. Next time there is a tour when I am working at home on my computer, perhaps I will remember to relay some of the key info !

I have done this on occasion, but only when actually subscribed to a tour to avoid an avalanche of texts arriving from well meaning forum readers.

It's also possible many people now have internet capable phones and get their information from the various gen groups.

I had a similar problem when Tangmere ran on 19th March, I subscribed in the morning and got a couple of texts and send a couple myself. However for the return I was subscribed from around 5pm and only got one text, which was a blank one which just said 'stop', all night, even though when she passed me at Wivelsfield she was around an hour down and I was very cold waiting! It has the potential to be a very good system and I don't find it takes long to send a text as I have a basic template like people have said above, just add the actual time passed and choose the number off my recent contacts on my phone.

I do similar to Ralph - I start with a template - then while waiting I add the location and guess the first three numbers of the time. Closing my phone puts this in the drafts folder and then when the train has gone I only have to update the last bit of the time and send. Simples.

Mind you, being a bit of a duffer at these mobile phone things, I have sent quite a few messages which could not get through (missed NatPres off the start, forgotten the a,b,p etc at the end of the tour ref and even sent some to the wrong phone number in my haste to move to another location). Which is why I adopted the template/draft system but you can still send those to the wrong place!

Now if someone can work out a way to get messages to and from the remoter parts of the railway system (Ribblehead springs to mind as an easy example) then that would be useful.

    Chris

As I subscribed to today's tour with 70000, I found I needed to top up. I had a bit of grief because when I went to the payment page & tried to click on one of the card symbols, they did not work. They do not seem to be active links ie nothing happens when you click on them. I got over it by clicking on "pay now" underneath them which took me to paypal.

This is a problem with nochex.
The page you would of been on, is hosted by Nochex.
I have raised the issue with them

With the result of ongoing problems with Nochex, we are providing a new service, we will be accepting Credit and Debit cards direct on RailTour Live together with Barclay Card.
A safe and secure method of paying for credits on RailTour Live.

Web site has reverted to just showing 'facebook link' page under every tab, any chance of a fix?

When I log in just get a page that says 'Link your account to facebook' and 'Do you want to connect this facebook account with your RailTour Live account?' This happened before a while ago, I'll go back through the thread to find it sometime but it stops you from using your RTL account at all as it shows under all tabs, profile, top up etc.

All the facebook links have been taken out, and facebook scripts removed from the site.

Can you post a screenshot please.

Definitely a problem, exactly the same thing is happening to me. every tab takes you to the Facebook links. You are unable to subscribe, top up, check your profile etc.
