Got a year to go before we see anything on the shelves... £100 (at 2013 prices) for a J94 probably £120 by release too..

Fill your boots time on ebay, the parties about to get its hangover.

According to the latest issue of Hornby magazine Drummond 700 should arrive in October. Some think to look forward to.

Not me. At least, not until they get away from this 'design clever' nonsense. However, this probably means that once I have purchased the promised T9, and depending on how the 700 class looks in terms of detail, I'm close to buying my last model from Hornby. I'd rather they did one really detailed model per year than a series of plasticky looking things. I recently finally got my hands on a brand-new Maunsell Pull-Push set for £59. Apart from a slight scratch on one of the windows and a missing step iron, its quite good.

I'm sure I read somewhere they have stopped using Design Clever, and that the P2 will be the last model that will use this idea. In a way it was quite sensible, but it didn't really work. Just look at the Duke. Full fat version was twice the price of the Railroad one, but certainly wasn't twice as detailed. The RR one could be made to look very respectable for a fraction of the cost of the full priced one.

Not much joy in the '00' Loco' dept. Was hoping for an 'H' to show up. Still no 'E4' yet and the Atlantic to follow ,so maybe they want some time to catch up.

Q6 a good choice. A beast of a machine when fully fit on the NYMR, although can't really justify one on the Southern... I consider myself a pretty competent modeller as I also dabble in 1/35 scale armoured vehicles with all the extra after-market bells and whistles, but the amount of capital sunk into a RTR model and risk of ruining the model means that I'd rather not touch it beyond adding the separate details after purchase. I think the last new loco I had was 34107.

Definetly not worth £179.00 - traction will be nonexistent on any type of incline. Admittedly, the real thing wouldn't have been seen hauling substantial rakes, but you'd hope to get more than six out of it at least. Based on the D11, this won't pull a lot. It'll look nice though based on the job done on the SECR liveried C class.

Admittedly, i'm judging the Atlantic despite not seeing a working prototype, but its clear that the model will essentially be a 4-4-0 with a rear truck, so performance will be akin to that displayed by the City, Compound and D11. However, I can't understand people suggesting that they wouldn't buy the P2 already - have you even seen a finished model? How do you know it will suffer the same flaws as the Duke if you've yet to look at one up close? This is the first UK Mikado to be released, and there is an excellent video on youtube of Tony Wright giving one a quick spin on his home layout:

The loco will clearly haul a load. For me, mechanical performance should be the number one consideration, and it appears to pass with ease (the sample model at least). The livery doesn't look too shabby either! The A3 and A4 models produced by Hornby are still the best RTR models produced (pre wire connector), so I have every faith that Hornby will produce another excellent LNER express passenger loco!

Very impressive; shame i'm not an LNER freak but there you go. I'd rather have the Brighton Atlantic with no pulling power !

Looking on the Hornby web site tonight I see there are two more locos added to this years models.

70043 Lord Kitchener with early tender emblem
70044 Earl Haig with later tender emblem

    http://www.hornby.com/locomotives/steam-locomotives/dcc-ready-steam-locomotives.html

A shame Hornby didn't think of doing 70043 or 44 with twin westinghouse air brake pumps and without smoke deflectors. Which both locos were fitted with before reverting back to standard Brits.
