    An Archdeacon of my acquaintance takes the view that clergy like railways or crime novels (her preference) because they show a world that is ordered, and problems get resolved - rather than being messy like the real world.

    Obviously does not apply to the modern railway network then, I would not described that as ordered. Of course much of that could be due to outside interference.
