Did toy with a trip to Worcester to see this but the torrential rain convinced me otherwise, fair play to those brave enoug to venture out.

Reports on FB of incident at Reading, something about the train moving while passengers were alighting, can't say any more, it is still there according to RTT.

    Off an email list:

61306 'Mayflower' working 1Z27 16:30 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington arrived Reading P13 @ 19:33, and PINE there.

Train was stationary in the platform with passengers alighting when the train moved off before RA, moved about 3-4 feet before stopping again. Train station duty manager requested driver to call signalman and set the signal back to danger.

    UID loco now working -

0Z26 2014 Southall Loco Services Ltd to Reading

To collect the kettle and stock before working -

5Z27 2115 Reading to Southall Loco Services Ltd

There are variants of that report and most posters of it were not eye witnesses to the event . @the-gog , maybe a pinch of salt with the popcorn

Yup, probably best to see how that actually pans out. Fact is always preferable to fiction.

There's a lot of frivolity here but I would suggest that this incident will have serious implications. Perhaps we should refrain from the gallows humour for the moment.

There was a sombre atmosphere on Reading station when I arrived. The train had been emptied as passengers had long since joined normal services towards Paddington. A class 37 diesel was already attached to the front of the train and the driver of Mayflower had been relieved of his duties. Let me make one thing clear. There had been no SPAD. I did speak with station staff and they openly stated that the train moved forward under an RA when passengers were still getting off. More than that they would not say.

This is my video tonight of the rescued train leaving Reading.

It truly amazes me that people make light of what happened at Reading tonight. They should be ashamed of themselves. We now have another driver relieved of his duties and no doubt in great distress just now. A trainspotter on the platform said that he clearly saw the RA showing before the train moved but now this is being disputed on this forum. The train will only have pulled away if the guard had waived his green flag in the old fashion way but I believe the driver still has to wait for the RA (Right Away).

Many questions still to be answered and clearly this incident is not as serious as the Wootton Bassett SPAD, but for a driver to be relieved, it is serious enough to be a little worried just now.
