I'm not booked on the Edinburgh Flyer this time, but a last loaded test run within the next week unless RTC postpone from 20th April the tour or substitute it with another loco. sorry to say work on 60009 could be overrunning at team Riley's works.

But you have no idea what is happening with 60009 have you, so why say it 'could' be over running, all you are doing is causing confusion.

What i just mean is ralph(i maybe pulling at straws) have other faults been found when team rileys engineers have stripped the con rods and valve gear when removing the piston rod out of the cylinder ready for the new rings to be fitted is the cylinder linings ok on 60009 is the manpower there to work on U.O.S.A. round the clock to get her in running order for 20th april E.F. tour? Or if not could R.T.C. POSTPONE THE TOUR IF TEAM RILEY THINK U.S.O.A. WONT BE READY FOR 20th April. for everyone on this tour to get their lions share behind a kettle thats all i was asking.

Which cylinder was it that had a hairline crack in last year on 60009 and had to be specially welded before i think it was early 2018 if i recall right.

May I suggest that you A) desist from pointless speculation and B) try writing using capital letters where appropriate and punctuation. As it stands your posts are virtually unintelligible and full of nonsense.

My original comment on this thread was just a reach out to see if there was an update on Union and the tour prior to this run which is now a week and a bit away. I’m sure that those who know are busy getting the engine ready in time and don’t have time to update a forum - I respect this. However there may have been updates elsewhere that I have missed, hence the question asked.
What doesn’t help is confusion caused by throwing out speculation as to what might be going on when the news has no evidence from the core business and carrying on with it.

The way questions are asked determine the response. A simple question may get a simple response, straight to the point, should it be known. Throwing out speculation on top of a very open ended question may cause frustration and an answer nobody is looking for.

That's a good idea. That approach is worth trying with much else that you post as you have been told before.

Maybe he could start using punctuation and formatting his posts in such a way so they are readable, too?

Be interesting if the tour was C47 hauled as that was the designation of the military verson of the Douglas Dakota aircraft.

Thus also if 60009 gets a 14 month extension on her boiler ticket after the piston rings have been replaced at E.L.R. And gets its boiler certified by a boiler inspector and grants a extension if the tubes and firebox plates are in good condition. We will all be glad she may be able for more summer tours anf heritage line visits if 60009 bows out lets see that happen in very good style maybe a double header with 60007 over the forth bridge.

I don't think the Civil Engineer would look favourably on that.

Davo clearly has plenty of views he wants to discuss and a forum such as this is a great place to do it - after all its what sites like this are for. It’s great to see such enthusiasm and yes should be encouraged.

The frustration stems from an almost monotonous amount of information that, more often than not, is speculation rather than fact that is presented in a difficult to understand format.
