D9009 reported through Sandy a mere 27 early. What a machine!

And for the Deltic fans (this was my first time I'd actually see a deltic in person): D9009 at York this late evening in the dying sunlight.

Magnificent. In the world of diesels it doesn't get any better then a Deltic in two tone green with small yellow panels.

It's quite an amazing fact, that although the following 91 behind D9009 has more stops,it is still only 6 minutes or so quicker between Darlington and KX tonight, quite incredible pieces of kit. It only lost about 40 minutes all told, something a Class 67 would struggle to keep up with.

Absolutely blistering performance from D9009 this evening. 2 hrs 20 mins York to the Cross, including a 20 mph TSR at Conington. High90s or three figures most of the way too. A shade over 31 mins Darlington to York as well.

I watched Tornado leave York yesterday from the viewing balcony at the NRM along with quite a number of NRM staff. I've seen this said elsewhere.....it seems to have a rather sharp acceleration rate?.....looked superb with the blood and custard coaches......

Some stunning photographs on here - thank you all for sharing.

As for D9009 - yes, the 2-tone green suits Deltics, and the run appears to have been very good indeed - although it has been reported that the run was, as I understand customary for 'heritage' diesels, timed for 95mph. That takes nothing away from the efforts of her support crew & footplate crew, of course. Similarly for those involved with 60163 - a superb way to return to front line action after her failure a few weeks ago. Well done all.
