Well, sadly I'm not going to be on it, as I'm now away at sea. (I knew this would be the case). The trip is for family, and yes, that's probably what 2 out of the 3 will probably be doing now - join/leave at York

Fingers crossed the dreaded fire risk doesn't rear it's head on this trip. We've already had several hot and dry days along the route, and this is weekday ECML steam after all. We can probably all remember what happened with a certain King Arthur class loco last year on a hot and dry weekday on that main line.

Tweeted by DPS a few mins ago.

“@DelticPS: D9009: Everything ok. Still expected to leave Castleton (ELR) at 09.45. Very big moment for the DPS as 9 moves out onto the big railway.”

    All good seemingly, : ))

Cannot wait to see D9009. Two tone green and small yellow panel, best Deltic livery ever IMO.

Get the handle in the top notch and let the Napiers do their stuff. No better sight and sound than a Deltic going hard at it with a decent load.

Doh that could be asking for one out of bed.
Nice and steady is all she will need to do.

Deltics were not created to go "nice and steady."

Great shot Alan. Here's my relatively ordinary shot from Nuneaton.

Is this D9009 first mainline tour in preservation?

55009 Alycidon, 55016 Gordon Highlander, 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier and 55022 Royal Scots Grey have all been mainline registered at some point in the last decade.

Just arrived in London with boxes full of brochures and timing sheets for the train tomorrow - a 5.00am start to get across to King's Cross in the morning (having to allow extra time because the Olympics-only lanes are opening at 6am!). Looking forward to seeing some of you on the train tomorrow - it's going to be a great (and a long!) day.

Have you not stayed at the very convenient Premier Inn at Kings Cross?

I'd say that although people enjoy the service I would be hoping the Deltic gang, A1 support crew and all the traincrew are getting a decent rest. They are the inportant people tomorrow to ensure 100% entertainment!
