Most has been said Chris, but I also have been know to 'enhance' the sound on a windy day, putting one camera near the line in a sheltered spot to get the best sound, and shoot from further away for the best visual, or even moving short clip of a whistle to the out of sight approach, instead of the from a long out of sight going away.........

If the fire risk prevails will the 15 guinea Fellsman require 2 diesels as well as the double headed steam?!

I just hope that they still have the double head (even if it does have a box on the inside) as I've been looking forward to this trip for months.

Three locomotives at the head of the train would seem excessive and indeed what effectively would be 15 vehicles may well make the train too long to fit the signalling at Carlisle. Lets sincerely hope it has rained by then There is still nearly three weeks to go!

Don't think so when 2 sleepers each way per weekday night manage a Class 90 + 16 coaches !

Three locos, surely four? One diesel for each steam loco!

I thought only one person could perform miracles, he was born on Christmas day.
Got more chance of scooping the Euros jackpot single handedly.
I defy anyone to have the nerve to come on here & moan about rain/snow/frost/wind or winter in general. You should eat your words.

Words aren't very filling, especially when they're empty.

Ah but the Caledonian sleeper runs through Carlisle it does not require stabling and reversing like the steam trains do.

I thought the whole idea of providing a box next to the steam loco was to provide the power when required, to ease the load on the kettle to lessen the propensity to fire throw ? Therefore! with double headed steam, loco 2 would ease the load on loco 1 and vice versa = no boxes required ! (is it just me ?) LOL

I would have been out photting the Fellsman today as there is an Owlet in the Cumbrian Fells waiting for it's first encounter with a Yeti! And if my car had been ready in time, (third time off the road for warranty work in 2 years), I was going today.

Never mind. Maybe I can fit in a trip that does coincide at some time. Be rather nice to encompass Owls and steam on the same trip. :)

Nice clips. It was good to see in the Selside clip that the K4 was in "notch 1" - i.e. carrying her weight, thereby giving the diesel a chance of moving the train along...........
