No, I'd quite like to see a black Bulleid. We have blue Can Pac (they were blue, in unrebuilt form) and it'd be interesting to see a black one (cos they were black, in unrebuilt form)

Yes i know he wants to paint his own blue and its up to Hosking which colour(s) his are painted.

Turn it into Gordon from Thomas the Tank. Who knows in this form it just may well sow the seeds of the next generation of steam enthusiasts.

I wonder how many of days volunteers and enthusiasts owe their hobby to "Thomas and his Friends"???? a sobering thought.

I watched the superb animated film The Illusionist (Oscar Nominated but lost to Toy Story 3) again at the weekend as the weather was poor. It is an accurate portrayal of the late 1950's featuring K1 62005 in the Scottish Highlands until 4472 makes an appearance in her inaccurate guise of LNER livery with double chimney and smoke deflectors! Anyway here is the trailer which features 62005:http://www.google.co.uk/url?url=htt...sg=AFQjCNHK3f-UwtS9Mg3AL7voHzrGIlmRhw&cad=rja

I've just found an illustration in an old book 'Steam Railways of Great Britain' by O.S. Nock, which shows an A3 in Experimental Dark Blue. It's not a very good picture, but gives some idea of what they must have looked like. Quite pleasing I think.

..... Just needs a double chimney and deflectors of course !

well thats impressive and I thought it would be nice in blue although a lighter shade would be preferable, as for double chimney and deflectors, not bothered, see signature.

Surely the most important issue should be that the engine runs all over the country no mater what livery it's in (although I prefer the iconic Apple green myself), and by all over the country I don't mean the S&C and Scarborough alone...

Well despite only polling 10 votes, 'Some other livery' won, and she's going to be black. An excellent result IMHO which just goes to show the futility of such paint frothing ;)

    Poll now closed.

They should go the whole hog: not just black - paint the wheels and motion red as well. Add a nice deep hooter too - then we would have a magnificent machine that sounds German as well as looking German ;)
