No idea! It was a yellow road that I found on an old O/S map. It could well have been through. The road does go to a place called Burghfield. Apart from the motorway, it's the first bridge to the east of Theale.

Can anyone tell me what the code - 176 - was for on 5029 when it went loco and coach to Carnforth please.

I cannot find any references to it.

    Thanks

Yep, that is Burghfield Road. Dangerous bridge, narrow & humped back with no footpaths. Another NP member I nearly met, I was also on the up platform at Theale near the end. Strange you see these people not realising who they are. Perhaps we should wear name badges or something!

Well I saw you in that case. Not realizing that there was a loop line at Theale, I went on the down platform. I wondered why no one else went onto that platform! I was at the Reading end; we must have been opposite one another! At least I shall know better next time if I ever have reason to go there again.

In response to Interested Gricer's query,

An educated guess, to commemorate 176 years since GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY, was formed maybe.

Cheers Ralph. I can make out one join, about midway, where the grass changes colour. I have no idea how the software did it, all I did was select three pictures, all different focal lengths, and somehow it's joined them all up, and everything lines up.
