It's not a rail tour, it's a class 37 with Caroline, the inspection saloon.

True but they also have MK2's of all varieties, air, vac, pressure vent, air con, but yet to see any of these on the GB.

Can anyone confirm, that the diesel will be on the inside for day 2 ? Also hearing, the, Shrewsbury to Grange leg is now diesel hauled.

Don't know the answer but assuming that the diesel that brings GB VIII up from Penzance is the one to assist with the train going forward then the easiest thing is to drop Britannia on the front at Plymouth.

How reliable is your source for that, Liam? Horse's mouth or line-side gossip?

I hear a lot of things but I suggest that not only must your hearing be good at the moment, what you hear has to come from the right source otherwise, sadly, we end up in a 'Marsh' swamp.

Except that you have to consider where Britannia's support coach goes.... It looks like there is a stop of about an hour at Plymouth to shuffle things around if necessary

70000 went up Whiteball, reasonably well. Minimal assistance from the rear, just taking its weight.

I hear from a very reliable source that not only will there definitely be no steam from Shewsbury to Grange over Sands but that the DBS diesel is booked to come off at Carnforth with possibly alternative methods of transport to the destination. It therefore puts into doubt what will happen in Scotland. On this occasion, do not shoot the messenger.
