    update-

The last couple of weeks have seen more progress on the extension, with daily work parties since boxing day. Most of the trees required to be removed have been felled now, the trackbed has been graded, drains cleared and 30 tonnes of base ballast was laid today south of the present end of track .Placing of the sleepers will commence tomorrow all being well so this marks the start of physical tracklaying after a break of 3 1/2 years! More news as it happens.

Also we finished the season with a strong santas and a record passenger total of 28,081 (this being tickets sold, including freebies and not passenger journeys). A very satisfying end to 2012 and with the promise of much to come in 2013!

    Regards

    Matt

Further to Matt's news those of you that have Facebook should head over to the railways page where you can see pictures of the removal of the rail stop as the first step in extending the rail head south !

    Hope so Tom!

The Vintage Carriages are back in the shed, Taff Vale No.220 will be first in line for attention with the hope that it will be up-and-running by Easter. Main jobs left are new running boards, complete doors and locks etc and repainting of these. Once TVR 220 is out, the remaining work on GWR 216 will be tackled. Again the doors require the most work. So we hope it will be this year that we see the victorian train....

    Regards

    Matt

P.S If any Mods are reading, can we change the title of the thread to "The Gwili Thread" as it is no longer 2012!

Matt, where did you get the blue slag from (assuming that's what it is)? By the way, your last link took me to eBay rover items (???).

Great photos by the way, thanks.

Think the blue might just be the photo...

The last link wasn't intended to be one, when certain words are typed into the forum they somehow get converted into links, not sure why!

progress up to mid-day today is that 9 x 60ft panels have now been laid in total so we are on our way!

    Regards

    Matt

It is impressive :) The blue slag is the picture, it is actually the soil from where they have prepared the base before adding the ballast.

    That's the plan.

Looking at the photos on Facebook the track has reached milepost 248, the new station site is at milepost 247(I) so 3/4 mile to go. Bronwydd station is located between mileposts 249 and 249(I) so just under 1 1/4 miles has already been laid since we started in 2006.

    Regards

    Matt
